Metal Gear Solid 3. I tried so damn hard to get on with that game, I really wanted to as I wanted to know the storyline especially after completing MGS 1 and 2. But now I would rather EAT MY OWN FACE than ever play that game again! ugh....

The Orange Box, the only thing I liked was Team Fortress 2, and this was the PS3 version...Half Life 2 was immensely overrated.
It's PS3 WHAT DID YOU EXPECT.
You Hl2 is awesome. AND PORTAL. WHAT ABOUT PORTAL?!?!
Or did you just conveniently miss that little gem because the escapist LOVES portal?
PS3 or not, it was still on overhyped pile of turtle shit. I played Portal and never saw the "wow" factor everyone was on about.
Amen on the Portal. For the life of me I can't figure out why so many people consider it the perfect game. Too short, too easy and no interesting story or character development. The whole thing was surprisingly 'meh' after all the hype.
The story was all written between the lines. While it's true that it doesn't shove it in your face, isn't that a good thing? It's much more subtle and ambiguous, allowing you to craft your own story around the bits of information they give you.
Still, I don't care that you didn't like it, I just wanted to point that out.

OT: Eh. Borderlands at first. I preordered it and it was the only game I really wanted all year, and the first ten levels or so were boring. As soon as I got out of the Arid Badlands, though, it became amazing.
Pychonauts was pretty cool for a while, but I can't manage to finish it. It's just gotten so boring.
L4D2. It's a good game, but it just doesn't seem to have the charm of the first game, so it's not as fun.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Seems like it can get pretty great, but I can't get past most of the early part of the game, it just seems really boring.

...Yeah, that's all I've got for now.

Timesplitters for the PS2.

I actually loved the game but the disc was a piece of crap so it took half an hour just to load the first level and after the 3rd or so level it stopped loading them altogether.

Sold it back to GameStop a bit later (sucks for them).

Dawn of War 2, actually pre-ordered it.

I love all things 40k and played the hell out of the original DoW and all its expansions. Critics and players alike lauded the game for its unique mechanics and gameplay and... what does Relic do with the sequel? THROW IT ALL OUT THE WINDOW!.

Not that I guess I should be too surprised by this -- Homeworld 2 is another game I had high hopes for but thought was a total waste of money in the end.

LERN 2 SEQAL!

Borderlands. It was just Fallout 3 with a different coat of arcade-style, T for Teen paint. I was really convinced after I heard what Yahtzee had to say about it.

Well, I shelled out the money for the CE of Mass Effect 2, only to be terribly disappointed by the game. I used to vow that I'd never get a CE of anything, just as I also said that BioWare could never make a game that disappointed me. Wrong on both accounts, it seems. Worse, I won't get anything more for trading it in than I would for the regular edition, so I'm holding off doing so in case I somehow change my mind about the game. But right now it makes for a better paperweight than it does an RPG.

Madden 10, No More Heroes 2, and Battlefield 1943. Thankfully, those were only rents and not full on purchases.

Did I miss an escapist trend where everyone hates fantastic games just to be cool?

I'm not just talking about you, please don't think I'm just calling you out, another example is a fair amount of users on this forum hating Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. I will admit, it is less realistic than it's predecessor, but it's sold as many copies and gotten a shitload of positive reviews for a reason
Thanks for your reassurance that I'm not the only shallow trend following idiot. I think it's more than a little rude of you to presume my motivations without even knowing why I think the game is disappointing.

Since giving all the details of the things about Bioshock 2 that bother me would be tantamount to writing a full review of the game I'll give you the short version: The gameplay and engine weren't refined enough from the original, and the story and characters were amazingly apathy inducing considering how compelling those elements were in the original Bioshock (until the last act anyway).

$10 is the price most mediocre games end up at after a year or so on Steam. By saying it's real value is $10 pretty much all I'm saying is this game was worth playing (once maybe) but there's no need to hurry you're not missing anything by not playing it at release. It's not like it matters that much to me either, all it means is that when Bioshock 3 rolls around I'm sure as hell waiting until they put it on sale before I buy it.

Juiced 2. Although it was 20 bucks AUD, it was still shit enought. I would have had more fun lighting that money on fire.
