There are a number of us on this forum who watch Let's Players. We are dedicated fans of them. However, despite that, there is always "that game" which we will NOT watch them do a Let's Play of, no matter how good they are at entertaining us.

Name that game.

The Final Fantasy Games. I'm sorry, but I'm just not a fan of them.

What are yours?

Just the ones I haven't played myself really.

I don't watch Let's Plays to experience games I'm not able to play, I watch them to share in the nostalgia and in-jokes. Like the Two Best Friends LP of Resident Evil 2, or the Game Grumps LP of Heart of Darkness. Watching an LP of a game I'm not familiar with is just boring to me.

Games I haven't finished that I'm in the process of playing or planning to play in the future, and I don't want to be spoiled on what they contain.

For instance, as I've only recently picked up Dark Souls II and haven't played more than a few hours of it so far, I haven't really watched any of the videos uploaded of it. I'll watch critique and/or upwards of ten-twenty minutes of gameplay just to see if it's still something that will interest me, but aside from that I avoid. For the longest time I didn't watch any videos of Metal Gear Rising either.

Otherwise it doesn't matter too much to me. I don't generally watch an LP for the game itself, but rather the personalities playing the game and how they react to it.

Basically this. Although if it's a game I have no interest in, I won't watch it. I have to at least be somewhat interested in the game to watch an LP.

I watch LPs of games I kind of like the look of but will never bother playing myself, biggest example would be Telltale's Walking Dead because I hate child characters with a passion and the first season has you protecting her as the biggest theme and in two you play as her.

No. I have to say no on principle. Fuck child characters, there has been only one of them I even remotely liked and she gets a free pass because she's in Persona 4 and is therefore untouchable by my Persona 4 fanboy mind best game 10/10 *.*

I did play their newer one though called Wolf Among Us though, it's a murder mystery so I had to give it a go. After all five episodes were out of course.

I do watch Trump play Hearthstone as well but mostly his Arena runs. I see through the eyes of a Zoo Warlock player in some of his constructed and I despair...

Horror games. Mainly out of the fear that I'll have to clean a brown stain out of my couch.

Any game I am planning on playing because of obvious spoilers. I want watch horror games either as they include over exaggerated reactions and I personally don't find the feeling of fear particularly enjoyable.

I generally only watch let's plays of weird, obscure games these days since I most likely would not have heard of them.

As a couple have already said, games I'm playing or planning on playing, to this day I still haven't watched any videos of Murdered: Soul Suspect or Infamous: Second Son, although I'm starting to get a little lenient with Murdered.
Anyway.
And by the time I'm finished I really can't be bothered to go back and watch.

Sometimes I'll watch games that I've already finished seeing as, hey, I already finished them but sometimes that can be a hassle.
I have a friend who told me how frustrating it was to watch, I think he said it was Tobuscus, go through Portal 2 after he finished it, and I've watched a couple times while my sister was running through the same game, it's really frustrating; hence why I did my best to remove myself from the room when she played because I was getting upset and she didn't need that pressure, it was bad for both of us.
Anyhow.
Another hassle with games you've already played is that if you're good at them watching someone who's *not* good at them is a strain, and these next stories come from TheSw1tcher.
Watching Matt, Woolie, and Liam die over and over and over again in Metroid: Fusion to bosses that I can beat without getting hit once was a little exhausting. Don't get me wrong, it took a long time and many playthroughs to learn the boss's patterns but still.
Then there was Matt, Pat, Woolie, and Liam play each other in Mortal Kombat and not know how to do Fatalities. Once again, the safest way to make sure you nail them, holding block while putting in the directions then letting go to hit the button, can be tricky if you haven't done it a few times and really you won't know about that method unless someone tells you, I know I had to be told. But come on, Fatalities are the icing on a Mortal Kombat cake, how can you not do them?!

I, um, I seem to have answered this topic a little too hard.

TL;DR Games that I'm playing or will play and games that I'm good at.

Story based games, it spoils them for future use by me. The exception being if it's a console exclusive.

Games I am currently playing or LPing that have a story, unless I've already passed that part. For example, I've been LPing the games made by Spiderweb Software for well over a year and a half now, and another LPer started playing the exact same games 3 days after I started and has been ahead of me until the most recent game, when I pulled ahead. I never watched his vids because he was technically ahead of me and doing things I hadn't done yet, but now I AM keeping an eye on him, since I'm ahead, and would like to see his reactions/opinions.

Overruling rule:
- LP with a shitty mic and/or consistent distortion due to quality/screaming.
- I am not going to bother if you are not set up properly.

What I will watch:
- LP of modded games (Beths).
- LP of editted creation games (KSP, Sims).
- Your experience with the game will never be the same as others, plus you can learn from them.

What I will not watch:
- All multiplayer LPs, local or online.
- YES I AM GOING TO WATCH YOU AND YOUR IDIOT FRIENDS SCREAM AT THE MIC FOR AN HOUR.

- All linear unroleplayable games.
- no point in watching when everyone can gets the same story.

- All non-SC2 RTS/MOBA.
- takes too long. SC2 is tolerable because a) I play it; b) it is usually short.

I really don't bother with them at all to be honest. I have tried a few times but always find myself thinking "Why an I watching someone else play a game when I could be playing a game myself?". Then I remember my pile of shame is a huge and decide that yes indeed, I should actually be playing a game myself and go ahead and do that. I don't have a problem with anyone sitting there for hours watching lets plays but its not for me.

Minecraft ... fucking minecraft!

Jesus fuck the gaming community cannot go one fucking day without mention that it. Minecraft coming to xbone and PS4 *fans go hysterical*, Minecraft coming to vita *fans go hysterical*, X from Y was created in minecraft *fans go hysterical*, something was created in minecraft *fans go hysterical* ... Microsoft buys Mojang *fans go hysterical*.

I was on board at first, thought the way the characters moved was rather charming but billions of hours later, fuck off!

"Craft" has gone from "you can make shit" to the word you put at the end of the games name ... looking at you mousecraft! Some games released since minecraft ... civcraft, gemcraft, hovercraft racing, tankcraft, koncraft, sorcerycraft, craft, kill craft 2, dragoncraft, spincraft, crafted, craft of gods etc etc.

3 years of being minecraft being shoved down my throat, I was fed up of it after a single year!

i used to watch a lot of TheRadBrad on some games but lately ive gotten annoyed with the fact that his mic seems to be biased towards the left side, and this really irritates my ears. not to mention he kinda sucks at the games he plays.

I don't usually watch LPs at all but I actively refuse to watch anyone play Monster Hunter. There are two kinds of Monster Hunter LPs I find. The first kind is where the person playing is not good at the game and they are farming their reaction for views. The other kind is tutorials which I do not need. I will find out how I play the game myself thankyou. I do not need you to tell me how to play this game!!!

I only really watch Game Grumps (Steam Train sucks) and Best Friends Play, but not when I'm planning on buying whatever game they're doing because it'll spoil tons of story elements for me.

That being said, that's only been the case with The Walking Dead.

I won't watch an LP of games that are heavy on story. I don't like the idea of not experiencing the story first hand especially when the story is the main selling point of the game ie. The Walking Dead.

However I will not watch LPs on games that I am not planing to get.
