Army Men: Sarges Heroes, me and my friends used to play the hell out of that game, a few months ago we dug out the old N64 and that was one of the games we played (we might have played the second one, we used to play both), OH GOD is that game horrible. When turning is literally hard to do, in a shooter I might add, you have done something horribly, horribly wrong

I'm ashamed to admit that I used to be obsessed with the Sims 2... Even the god-awful console ports.

Army Men : Land, Sea, Air is far worse.

FAR worse.

I know that, and yet I don't remember either of them, apart from the fact that I played both.

The Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom game.
I like Spongebob even now - to a lesser extent and on another level than as a kid - but Jesus fucking Christ, it was mediocre.

I honestly can't think of any games I'm truly ashamed of playing, I've been sat here thinking about it for 5 minutes and nothing comes to mind.

Oh come on, that game was great. The only "sport" game I ever liked, that's for sure.
Bloody awful game, ruined by Qidditch being horribly flaw as a contest!
I know what you mean, if there is a game i regret buying as a kid, it would be Quidditch Cup, even as a kid, the other team would never make a goal, and i always picked raven-something because their special goal counted as 3 points. That was the whole game, it was so easy i eventually just quit.

I don't know why, but even though I am and always have been a straight and not especially effeminate dude, I actually liked this game as a kid. I cannot tell you why, I just remember that I did.

What games did you like as a kid that you hate in hindsight now, Escapists?
Dude , i remember my dad buying that for my sister . And i hAd nothing to play . I played it and finish it . Most boring 3 hours of my life . I didn't enjoy it but i am ashamed of having played it . I was 13 at the time . I am a staight male :/

OT: there was a seasame street counting game on the sega genesis . I loved that game as a kid . Wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole now .

Shadow the Hedgehog. I may not enjoy it anymore, but I can still get a kick out of the absurdity of a black and red cartoon hedgehog running (skating?) around using rocket launchers and riding motorcycles.

I have no regrets of any of the games I enjoyed as a kid. If I regret them it kind of kills the fond memories.

Quidditch World Cup was bad? Fuck me that game was awesome, I remember beating Bulgaria the exact same way Ireland beat them in the boo.

I guess that could be the "pets games" (you get to play an AI pet on your desktop) back in the days of Window 95. What? I never had a real pet to this day so I cling on fake pets as a kid (this including tamagotchi related pet aswell). These days I find it rather silly that I was attach to a fake pet.

I regretted it because when I played it again last year my nostalgia goggles snapped in half. The best strategy after scoring is to just chill by their goal and keep scoring because the AI was terrible. It was too easy and boring for me.

Weirdness:

Lameness:
Maths workshop. A game so lame it doesn't even have any record on the internet.
My mum got it free back when she was a receptionist at a then much less dickish EA (namely the branch that ate Bullfrog) and it was one of the games being published.

It was dire. But I loved it as a kid. I can't even show you what it looks like it's that bad.

But I got Theme Park free as well! That was cool.

Edit: Huh, found it, it was by the same company who made the first Myst game...
Wonder how that found it's way into the office. Guess it was being looked at and then thrown in the bin. It was extremely corny if I remember right.
