simple question. please list them in order of # of times beaten, with most re-beaten games first. and give a brief reason for why you replayed it so much!

DOOM 1: Knee Deep in the Dead - a lot.
DOOM is still fun, and the first episode still kicks ass. I'll keep replaying this game forever. Any time I need some good, intense FPS action, DOOM always delivers.

Sonic the Hedgehog - a lot.
Probably because this was the only Genesis game I had for a while. But, the game was fun to replay over and over. I got damn good at it too. Knew each level inside out - heh.

Metal Gear Solid 3 - 2x
first time, i played on easy. HATED the game. then, just randomly, i decided to try it on European Extreme mode (where it's game over if you get spotted). and that made all the difference. it's now one of my favorite games of all time.

Defender of the Crown (NES) a lot - The game was designed to be played over and over again; it was short, yet really satisfying.
Ghouls 'N Ghosts (Genesis) 10x or more - I think I was so blown away that the "arcade" was in my house that I couldn't stop playing it.
Metal Gear Solid (PS1) 8x - Who didn't keep completing it to unlock all the extra goodies? Then of course, a few years later I had erased my saved game files and decided to play it again a few more times.
Bionic Commando (NES) 5x or so - Every once in a while, I just had to see that guy's face explode at the end. It had to have been the most horrifically awesome ending ever for its time. ;-)

Those are the ones that I abused the most, I think.

I can't think of many games i have played more than twice to be honest...

I guess games like Civ, or Total War games don't count?

I guess it would be old SNES games when i was a kid to be honest...

Some games are clearly made for replay (Sim City, Civ etc.)

Other games:
MGS - 3 times
SH1 - 6(?) times
Deus Ex - 4 times
Blade Runner - 8+ times
(12 endings... Will get them all eventually)
Stalker - 2 times, with plans to play again wonce some developing mods come to frutition
SS2 - 2/3 times

Extra endings are usually the key to re-play value (although I won't do it for the sake of it - each ending should require substantially different actions and gameplay styles, or should effect other play-throughs). Unless the game is just so damned good or so heavily modified by fans (Stalker) - I've lost count how many times I've replayed the original DooM wads...

Almost all of my collection. It's the rare game that I don't play more than once; I try to buy with an eye towards replay value.

(What? I'm supposed to pony up $60 and then run through only once?)

I play most games multiple times, or at the very least, I tend to play sections of games over again. I played the bit at the end of Jedi Knight 2 (where you defend the training grounds) several times over, but I never really repeated the pre-lightsabre sections.

Actually, lots of games are like that for me nowadays, come to think of it. But it's rare that I buy a game and don't play through it at least twice.

Zelda: Ocarina of time, innumerable times, mainly because it was the best of the three games I had to the N64, but also because it's pure win in almost every way.

What more have we... Every half-life game except blue shift.
Played the dawn of war: dark crusade campaign as most races, played through the campaigns for starcraft and warcraft 3 loads of times

Suppose that's what happens when you have no money. You buy a few games, then end up playing them until you know every secret, shortcut and line of dialogue in them.

LOL, I'm going to get LOL'd at for this but
1-Prince of Persia: Sands of Time 3x
2-Prince of Persia: Warrior Within 5x (Fave PoP)
3-Prince of Persia: Two Thrones 2x
4-Final Fantasy X x2 (because it's the easiest FF, I should probably replay FFVII, that's my fave game ever xD.
5-Halo 3 x2 (What? It was fun, sadly I did both times on the same level of difficulty, I know, I'm an idiot xDD.)

Sonic The Hedgehog (& STH2)- I love these games, and routinely play them for nostalgia (and to be reminded of the days when sonic didnt suck)

Fable - This game really has a unique feel. Despite being short, it really pulls me into its world. Farting and swearing at kids FTW!

Bioshock - An amazing story that I just cant get enough of. Gameplay is so-so, but the execution of its storytelling is faultless.

Ocarina of Time. 7x. There was nothing like it for years and years.
Halo. ~6x. I don't like part 2 or 3. But the 1st one is still fun.
Shenmue I & II. 3x. I would play it more if there was more action.

I've beaten everything else I have about twice but there is too many to list.

I agree with the OP for Doom1 - EP1 being the FPS with the best replay value.

Besides that:
- Sonic 1-4 (numerous times)
- Half Life 1+2 (2x each)
- Metal Gear Solid (2x, saving either Otacon or the girl)
- Morrowind (2x)
- Final Fantasy VII & VIII (2x each)
- Operation Flashpoint (2x)
- Turrican 1+2 (too many times to count)

Doom (All) - Way too many
Half life - 5x
Quake 4 - 5x (3 of which were within a month)
Morrowind - 4x (This counts times I never finished but had to start a new character because I forgot what I was doing. And I plan on playing it again)
Diablo 1 & 2- A lot
Bioshock - 2x (back to back)
Command and Conquer - A LOT

There are a lot more than this, but my list is way to long... I replay games quite a bit.

Resident Evil GCN Remake- over 14x it's amazing.
Resident Evil 0- about 4 times or so.
Resident Evil 4- 7 times on GCN, twice on PS2.
Perfect Dark- more times than I can count.
Portal- 4x or so.
Starcraft- Many many times.
Warcraft 3-3 or 4 times...
Metroid Prime-3x
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes- 3 or 4x
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence: 3x
Starfox 64- Countless times.
Killer Instince-Countless times.

Most games I have I play through multiple times. Although there are some that I just can't...like P.N. 03.

Is it me or is 90% of this forum lists of games?
I guess more than anything I've play Civilization so many times to the end that I can recite the techtree from memory. The reason Civilization gets played so often is because even the smallest changes in the map make for a completely different play-style. If I were to cite a more conventional game I would say Castlevania 3, which I played like a billion hours of when i was young. Strangely I don't like any of the new Castlevania games. Maybe I just outgrew them.
