You missed his point. His point was that most of the fans of Halo 2 had never played the first one, and many of them had commented that the second was a big improvement on the first despite never actually playing it.Powerman88 said:

BF2142: While BF2 may have been just a revamp of the DC mod, it was a very good game. But it was also unfinished and 2142 felt a bit rushed in many areas.
Driver 3: I was young, got caught on the hype train, bought it before the review arrived.
Oddworld: Munch's Oddyssey: Probably the biggest tragedy for me. The first two games opened up this huge universe with their style despite the fact it was only 2D. They really did have this big environment. And then came Munch.
The first disappointment for me was the cancellation of the PS2 version - which, quite frankly, killed most of their sales. Many of their fans were outraged, especially as most of them had upgraded to a PS2 from the PSX. They literally shut out their customers.
And then eventually I got to play it, and I was disappointed. While the first two Oddworld games had some very well thought out and challenging puzzles, these things didn't really lend themselves well to the 3D environment.
And then we have the removal of some key game play elements that were initially planned and were already in the predecessors (some of which even got showcased as a video - most noticeably the "hiding in shadows" mechanic) which in the end made it a watered down version of the series' former self. I didn't even bother looking at Strangers Wrath after that.
However I have always said, I'd pay good money for a HD version of the first 2 Oddworld games (high res textures and sounds). Especially if they made it to PC.
Half Life. First copy I got cost me $15 and it didn't work.(assholes at the CEX wouldn't give me my money back despite the fact that I had the warranty.) The second copy cost me a bit less, and I soon found that the game pretty much sucked. I so badly wanted to love this game, but I just couldn't.
The setting was just more brown and gray. The characters weren't very interesting, except for Miora Brown (and you met her really early on), and it was more of an RPG for the shooter player. I missed the ES games method of "practice makes perfect" instead of the streamlined experience and skill points system.WrongSprite said:

HAlf-Life (but maybe thats just because I played HL 2beforehand, high expectations and what have you).
Any FPS that is supposed to be very realistic with people complaining about a sniper 'camping' online. The way I figure it, so long as you're not spawncamping, you're okay. But if you keep getting shot by a guy you can't see in a realistic game, either A, you suck horrifically, or B, he is a really efficient and smart sniper.
Spore... I still have an ounce of hope that expansions will bring back what I was expecting, but it's useless at this point.
Killzone 2.
I wanted forever for this game to come out, seeing that it had the "best graphics ever". Don't get me wrong, the game is beautiful, but it is just an average shooter laced up with beautiful visuals. Once I beat the campaign I never went back to it (multiplayer is still occupied by Call of Duty 4).
