Because you clearly don't understand hyperbole, versus fanboyism.
To which I say this: what's the problem? Even if someone is engaging in fanboyism it's kind of pointless to complain about it because it doesn't affect you. It's like complaining about someone saying that their movie of the year is going to be Deadpool 2.
In a forum in which we all share our opinions on the games we play, it becomes disingenuous to rave about a game that wont be released for months yet. Yoshi claimed Xenoblade would be his game of the year, months before the game was released. Not in a joking way (as the motorcycle comment obviously was) but in legit praise for a title that he only had previous games and preview footage experience with. Thus he was called out about it and an argument ensued. Be hyped for any game you want, but when we are all discussion games for GOTY, common sense suggests that the game should be out before you can confirm a GOTY award to a game.
It would be like a group of people talking about different cheeses, and someone saying "I like CAKE!". That's their right to like cake, but it doesn't fit the conversation and offers no validity to anything in the discussion of cheese.
We all know who the fanboys on the website are. Yoshi loves Nintendo. B-Cell loves any FPS that doesn't contain a female protagonist. However fanboying in discussions are usually not helpful nor do they contribute to said discussions.
Now if Yoshi had proclaimed Xenoblade as GOTY after the release, then nobody would have had any problem with it. It was his attempt to legitly justify it as a GOTY before anyone got their hands on it.
