i am still a GameSpot user, but for a long time now they don't cover PC games, unless it is cross platform or some high profile game. many good reviewers left it and some of the new guys there have really no idea what they are talking about, and its not because they are new reviewers, it is because they are not gamers (the Dawn of War 2 interview anyone?).

GameSpot is sold out for a long time now, at least that is how I feel.

I think The Escapist has more intellectual stuff. I do like to be able to track games and my collection like I can on GameSpot. Honestly, I was never really moved to post on their forums. The Six Days in Fallujah coverage here has been pure boner fuel for me as I am more into the Serious Games genre but that is purely personal preference.

Good lord, the Gamespot forums... they make me shiver. Even the comments on random news articles cause me much grief.

That having been said, there certainly isn't a need for all the hate. GS has it's nice bits, I just don't rank the community as one of them, as they seriously need some smacktard fumagation in there. However, it's good to see one of the better members show up! Guys like you keep the GS community afloat.

Same here. The thing I really hated was all the PS3 fanboys who refuted that there was anything wrong with the way Sony was working the product. There was like a 1-to-9 ratio of PS3 fanboys to Xbox fanboys there. That and the comments under news articles were so bad that it gave me headaches to even start reading them.

At least here, the PS3 fanboys are not as prevalent or annoying. Same goes for the XBox fanboys.

I have to agree with you. It's pretty sad how many people go third-grade on each other's arses over silly things like Escapist vs. Gamespot.

Admittedly I'm a dual-member: my favorite videos are on The Escapist and I enjoy wasting time here in the forums, but I'm also subscribed to some of Gamespot's newsletters and I have a handful of Gamefaqs FAQs bookmarked for frequent reference. So while I can't speak for everyone here, I'd like to let you know that there are some users out there who believe that both communities can coincide peacefully.

Secondly, as many others have said before, we are not immune to the... shall we say, "lower common denominator" of the Internet. You'll have noticed that the majority of the members here frown upon that behavior. We believe in fairness and open-mindedness (the occasional "My console rox! Your console sux!" thread notwithstanding) and don't feel the need to belittle others.
