People still read Gamespot?

Personally, I'm loving FFXIV even though most reviews seems to be poor for it. In any case, I've learned recently that Haters (will indeed) gonna hate.

When it comes to reviews I only trust those who i know personally (IE met them face to face at least once). I believe any review otherwise (except Yahtzee most the time) biased. If it is not because of the genre (a more understandable bias), it is because of who the devs/publishers are.

Scott Pilgrim vs the world, the game was a great game i thought, then i learned it was published by ubisoft (a company that i do not have a good record with) i still like the game as much as before, just now makes ubisoft look a little better in my eyes.
Did you just say Yahtzee is an unbiased reviewer?

It's his job to make games look bad. He's not a reviewer, he's a critic. He said it himself.

OT: Yeah, I could pretty much tell the game going to be shit when I saw a video demonstrating that the terrain was practically copy-pasted. That didn't reassure me of developers' effort.

This is an MMO. If it's terrible, it means very little about their ability when it comes to single-player fantasy epics. You know, the games they're supposed to be making.

Well, really not that much of a shocker - it did not look very good. In fact, did not look good at all.

I don't like Gamespot too much, but I do like Noah Antwiler. And his opinion was exactly the same.

So, yeah. It's pretty likely this game is terrible.

This review definitely makes me hesitate now. Before, I was 100% going to get FFXIV on PS3, but now...I'm not so sure. I don't care about the number score, those mean nothing. But hearing about all the limitations, the lack of an auction house, and so on...this doesn't sound nearly as fun as FFXI was.

More like Square-Enix ran out of bribery money.

Now lets just hope no one gets fired.
Ba zing!!

Seriously though, it's Gamespot...they give any hyped up piece of shit a good review of the company gives them enough money.

Obviously, Square didn't give them enough.

I bought FFXIV on launch day and while I agree with just about everything in that review, I was still planning to stick with the game. Underneath all of its flaws there is the potential for it to be a really great game.

And then I hit the exp limit...and about lost my mind in a rage of righteous fury. Limiting how many levequests you could do was bad enough, but limiting how much exp you can gain in a given amount of time was an absolute deal breaker. I'm paying Square a monthly fee to play their game, not to be told for how long I can play.

It seems I didn't research the game well enough before it launched, because if I'd known about the exp limit, I would never have bought it. Regardless, I canceled my account and uninstalled the game the moment I found out. There are simply too many other, better MMO's out there to waste time with this garbage.

Jeez, if GAMESPOT of all places gave this game a bad review, imagine what everyone else will give it.

I hate seeing mmos that arnt made for kiddies being put down.

FF11 was a brilliant game with amazing content, but because it had a steep learning curve people bitched about it.. didnt give it a chance and left bitter.

Half the comments here i see are from people who never played 14 and called it crap, or people who have barely played it and called it crap.

I wouldnt give my opinion to something i have no first hand knowledge for so why do i see it from others??

I'm glad you posted this, because it means that my initial fears about the experience limit were justified.

When the story first broke about the "fatigue" system, everyone thought it was basically a time limit. Then Square (or someone) went into full damage control, with some idiotic video on the internet about how the fatigue system was a good thing, and talking about "horizontal" leveling as well as "vertical" leveling, and it seemed a load of crap. People also insisted that the fatigue system would be so forgiving that almost nobody would run into that wall.

But apparently you already have, so that just means the problem IS as bad as it originally sounded.

This game's already gone from a must-buy to an almost-certainly-won't-buy for me.

One of my friends played the beta and said it sucks.

Apprently the UI is really sloppy and its really bland.

Also, limiting exp is bullshit.

Well, that's highly dissapointing. I was hoping they imprived the FFXI formula at least.

It's finally happened. The spin-offs are better than the numbered series. Now we just need an FFT2 to cement this position.
