The only problems I've had with GameStop... well, I've only had one: the preorder bonus. Actually, scratch that, two.

-Gave my little brother the wrong Call of Duty game; put the Xbox version in instead of the PS2, not a big deal, was corrected right away
-Did not receive the preorder bonus for Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Not a big deal, got that rectified.

I prefer Play N Trade and GameCrazy, but GameStop isn't terrible.

I went and found the Zero Originality videos. I thought I would post the links here because no one else did. Usually, I'm a lazy forum reader who can't be arsed to Google something if there isn't a provided link. It's all pretty shocking hearing about some of the stuff they pull, especially the wage cards.

From the links I posted, your part 3 is my part 2. I think the ep3-1 I posted was 20 minutes while the whole episode was 30mins. It follows to think that your part 1 and 2 are also 10 minutes long each.

I think this happened at an EB but whatever, my SO wanted me to play Deus Ex and found a copy in the EB. We asked, this is a full version of the game, not a demo right? We were assured that yes, it's a full version. Well, no, we were lied to. Still a little pissed about that one. And if they get more from selling used games then the local GS (formerly an EB) must love me because that's all I want. Trouble is I want games from 2 or 3 generations ago and the pickings are getting a little sparse.

I would DRILL the employee during the first scenario, it is HIS job to make you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible, the minute he starts asking you why want something a certain way is the minute you should begin building up a head-of-steam, because that guy is officially a inconsiderate, anti-social, lazy worker.

For the second scenario, those people are lazy and that kind of disgraceful treatment is unacceptable, all those people at gamestop are getting paid to sell you games, by not telling you the correct price or getting you the best disc available they are showing that they really just don't care.

I just have one question

"is it OK to buy a Limited edition version of the game from gamestop?"
because BestBuy or Hollywood or Play&Trade may not have
I would just go to eBay to find a LE version of a game if I really, really, really wanted it versus the non-LE.

I've said it before and will keep saying it on every one of these threads that I see. ALWAYS shop at your local small buisness game store. Only go to chain stores if they have exceptional service or you need something right god damn now.
Your local small buisness game stores will always do whatever they can ti keep their buisness. The owber of the store I go to gave me a discount on a used game just because it wasw my birhtday. Not to mention the fact that he gives cash discounts. just keep in mind what I have said.

I think their a bit to nosy sometimes

scenario 1: I walked in and saw a kid who wanted to buy halo and his mom was there and the gamespot employee takes the box turns it around and reads off the reasons why its rated mature.it sorta pissed me off knowing the boys mom didnt let him get it after that even though heres my description of it: colorful spacemen running around shooting eachother with guns that make paint come out of other spacemen. very close to the real game actually it really looks like the people just got hit by a paintball actually.

Unfortunately, not everyone has the option of going to a 'mom & pop' sort of game store. :(

I know I have yet to see one around here, and despite highway and other such fears, I've been to quite a few different city/areas...

The only reason I go to GameStop anymore is because I get a employee discount (Barnes and Noble owns GameStop) on used games. Certain things I would never consider buying new (.hack games, Resident Evil DS) and older games (Republic Commando). 20% is 20% and I love it. Best Buy is my friend otherwise even though their customer service is no better.

I never knew Barnes and Nobles owned Gamestop!

Learn something new everyday - I find it nifty, however, that your employee discount extends to there, though.

I used to own 2 private 'mom & pop' video game stores in NH and ME and we had a Gamestop not too far away. We constantly had customers came in that had had bad experiences with Gamestop....everything from rude employees to scratched unplayable discs that they had to bring back 2 or more times to finally get a copy that worked. Also, several times they would buy a game and receive the wrong game in the case. Their store credit was a joke too for trade-ins sometimes only giving out 10 cents in credit for a game or even less if the customer wanted cash. It was great for us as we invested in a disc cleaning machine giving customers a guaranteed clean scratch free game disc and always tended to give out a lot more in credit then they did. Don't get me wrong though we loved having them near us because we carried the older stuff that they 'phased' out (as well as the current titles). Their employees would refer many customers to us if they didn't carry something we did and we even had several Gamestop employees as regular customers!

I also dislike GameStop employees. its a much more mainstream game shop, and I aways get the "pushy salesmen rejects", or the "disgruntled this-is-my-lousy-summer-job guys" when I shop there.
My game shop of choice is the local Hollywood's(Movie store) Gamecrazy department. It's a smaller business than Gamestop, and from the first time you visit, you get to know the employees, and it becomes much more of a relaxing "Hey, whats up? Just dropping by to get some games." atmosphere when shopping, like something you'd have in a little town hardware store.

I've never had a problem with Gamestop. They've always been good to me. Now Slackers on the other hand; that store sucks. They give you shit trade in value and are overpriced. I would love for a chance to hang the manager with his own intestines.

its strange because ive never heard of a story like this from a gamestop. in my town, the gamestop is my favorite place to buy games, over walmart AND bestbuy. this is because gamestop has always had a good customer service, and compared to the other stores, it ACTUALLY has the GOOD games in stock, as well as an overall larger selection. As for the price change, thats just wrong, no matter what the store is but at my game stop that worked in my favor. The game I wanted was 20 dollars cheaper new than used! Needless to say I jumped on that opportunity.

Instead of just being able to purchase the game and head on home, instead I am forced to endure near ten minutes of one of the employees drilling me and questioning me on why I 'have' to have the game new, and in the plastic.

Cue awkward feelings and a feeling of being just plain uncomfortable.

I tried to explain that, due to some OCD I have, that when I can, I have to get games new (and sealed) if at all possible; Or, if not new/sealed, at least as like new/mint as possible... there's nothing wrong with that, is there? It wasn't hurting him, or anyone...

Yet he had to continue getting on my case about it, making me feel like I'm some idiot because of what I felt more comfortable with, claiming that it's stupid because one could buy the same game used and save money as well as 'get more' out of it.

Blah, blah, blah.

[...]

Even better, they should of honoured the pricing it stated on the display - It isn't the customer's fault if THEY didn't update matters.
2 things:

1) In case of the employee rambling, ask for the manager, if he shows up, you tell him that you are being bothered by this employee and if it doesn't stop immediatly you will leave, buy your shit somewhere else. (In case there is nothing else near and the manager points that out, go "I don't care. I come here to buy stuff, not tell some minion my lifestory. If I can't do it here, I'll find a place where I can just BUY things").

2) At least in germany the price on the display ain't worth shit. The price on the box is what counts. If the display says 100.00 and the box says 1.00, you pay 1.00. If the box says 100.00 and the display says 1.00, you pay 100.00
