Most studies are BS. Anyone can make up a study to support their point of view or topic. Studies and "experts" are some of the most unreliable sources in my opinion. Anyone who is a fan of Penn and Tellers BS can tell you this. If you want to look at a good example of "study abuse" look no further than milk and/or eggs. Are milk and/or eggs good or bad for you? Does any one really know now due to all the studies and "experts"?

Topic wise- "Any pile of stunted growth unaware that entertainment is just that and nothing more, deserves to doom themselves to some dank cell, somewhere, for having been so stupid!! Movies, T.V.,music-They're all just entertainment, not guidebooks for damning yourself!"- JTHM by Jhonen Vasquez

A few other notes also taken from the episode of P&T: Bullshit on video games:

-These "scientists and experts" sound like they are driven by an agenda in performing their study. Agenda-driven studies always lead to false information since you can essentially take the weakest findings and shout "Eureka! This proves I'm right!"

-(this one is a bit more OT) Video games have gone from an uncommon hobby to a mainstream phenomenon in the last 20 years. They have gotten to the point where having a gaming console in the house is about as common as having a television (another invention so called "experts" believed would lead to the immediate downfall of society). Trying to draw a correlation from video games to antisocial behavior is almost as absurd as saying "Oh, he uses Aquafresh toothpaste, therefore there must be something wrong with him."

Combining loose logic with an agenda to prove doom will always lead to this kind of crap.

I'm anti social because i'm anti social, maybe this leads to me gaming more. I've been anti social since i can remember, so i won't try to pass the blame onto gaming thanks.

Not my fault the majority of people are asshats!

(Funnily enough i'm not anti social when it comes to people i can get along with, though they seem to be few and far between.)

I am an anti-social person, but I have always been one. Likewise with avoidant. I don't like being around people and have no care for them. Games aren't to blame, I've just always been like this.

Seeing as 90% of games are multiplayer and a growing segment of them are co-op (even if its co-op vs) that seriously puts a dent in the "antisocial" argument.

The violent part is hard to say. I definitely take my anger out in games but the effect of that is that I'm less violent in real life. When I used to come home from work in a bad mood, My fiance used to tell me to go game for a bit and I'd come back feeling tons better.

So, I'd say those "scientists" and experts" are morons and I'd like to kick their butts!! >:)~

Hmmmm...i get the feeling part of a minority here =/ oh well =D

I am in no way anti-social, i love my little azns and i got heaps of mates, not just online buddies on ps3. I'm not a loner, I am pretty darn aggressive but i blame that on my reading material, not on my gaming, if anything, it's my only proper anger outlet when I'm not at school muckin around with the girls. I also know a lot of guys who game alot but are pretty much the most popular bunch in school, and are actually really good looking =) cause they are also very sporty.

So I guess the anti-social bit doesn't fit me or anyone I know, I guess u could tag us with aggressive, but that hardly has anything to do with our gaming, and more to do with the fact that we have always been aggressive, especially when we game, although it's a less violent aggressive and more a playful aggresive with the occasional "YOUR SHIT!" chucked in there for fun =)

Or perhaps gaming just attracts those people and they'd be around anyways.

I'm the embodiment of antisocial. But I am too awesome to be lonely.
I blame games because they make me play PC :/

Ha! I have no soul.
I've been my non-social, uncaring self since way before I became a gamer. Games haven't had any negative effects on me, except that sometimes I just play too long at one time.

That depends on the person. Me for instance, I admit I am anti-social, but it's not because of video games. I'm anti-social because I hate people.

This is a case of correlation not equaling causation.

Games do not make people become anti social, anti social people are more drawn to gaming than other people are. It's that simple. It's just like firefighters don't become arsonists because of their jobs, arsonists are attracted to a job where they are surrounded by fire.
