I am talking Pets doing what they do next or on or near you while you play.
What is the best or worst?

I have some rats, ferrets and cats. I find rats are good to have while playing games for the most part...they sit on your shoulder and make themselves confortable...or they tempt fate my trying to explore off the edge of the sofa. Ferrets can be good if they are sleeping but I have had my feed attacked before while playing. And of cause my cat like nothing more than getting in the way so my attention is on them and nothing elce.
My mate has a dog that he sometimes used as a pillow.

What do you do? Do you ever play with a pet?...or try to play with a pet or are pets a big no no in the gaming envrioment?

My family has a dog, but he's bothersome and I only like him sometimes. I don't like him being around when I'm trying to play games at all.

Here's a challenge: Try playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 while your cat sits on your lap and attacks the nunchuck cord.

My dog used to like to lick my elbow while I played Halo...
it was rather annoying also when I was running around Fallout 3 in a quiet corridor and he'd pop out of no where and attack my face.

Sigh, those were the good old days

That's not what a furry is.

OT: My dog's not allowed upstairs, but I sometimes let her up when I'm on the computer and no one else is at home. She lies on the bed and naps.

I understand you.

My family has a dog, but he tends to be bothersome. And i don't like him being around when i'm trying to play games.

Cwtchy is right, Justa I think you meant the Otherkin?

OT: My cat sits next to me and sometimes nuzzles my leg or stomach while playing, its met with me pausing my game and stroking and cuddling him for a bit.

Furries are sick freaks who are a curse upon society.
You clearly missunderstand. "Furries" are actual anamorphic humanoids, wich do not exist in real life, but are mostly seen in art. These "sick freaks" you are talking about are "Fur-fans", and most of them don't even dress up as animals, but are just fans of the art-style. Of course, there are people who dress up, but they mostly do it for conventions and such, while what I think you mean is the "sick" part is those who "yiff", wich is engaging in sexual activities while wearing animal suits.

Whenever i use my laptop in range of a cat the cat ALWAYS starts walking on the keyboard and sits infront of the screen.
Without the laptop my cats won't bother with me, then with the laptop they're like "meowmeowmeow *sits on screen*" D:

I am disappoint.

On Topic: I sometimes let my snake rest around my neck, or my cat sit in my lap.

My dog just walks in the room and lays down, then promptly falls asleep. The annoying part is she snores. Loudly.

And here I thought this was going to be about Krystal...

My dog tends to sleep behind my chair. Strangely enough, if I ever play Mass Effect 2 she tends to calm down if she happened to be freaking out at the time. Indoctrination? Perhaps...
