Recently, a little game known as Modern Warfare 3 came out. I wasn't particularly excited for it, nor was I dreading its release. I played Black Ops quite a bit and really could get into it. However, MW3 just disappoints me. It feels like a step back from Black Ops. Everybody camps, uses the same killstreaks (I have yet to see somebody use the Specialist Strike Package, where instead of killstreak rewards, you get more perks) and no matter what I do, I can't seem to get more than 8-10 kills a match, but will consistently have 4-5 assists.

Anyway, the point of this is as follows: What is a game or gaming experience that disappointed you? Share your stories!

I preordered Zeno Clash minutes after watching the first trailer. But once the game released, I noticed that the game itself was boring as hell. The setting was cool and all (and what made me buy it), but the gameplay was just endless beating up guys with your fists in first person perspective and invisible walls.

Brink was my biggest gaming disappointment. So much promise, and it fell flat on it's face.
After that would be Halo:Reach. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't really good. At all.

To my mind, there's few feelings more sad than taking and old game you loved when you are younger, playing it, and realizing that it's not nearly as good as you remember - in some cases, that it's utter crap. A major example for me personally was Battle for Wesnoth, which went from being my favorite game to play alone or with friends to - six years later - a barely tolerable, occasionally-played "I can't think of anything else to do" sort of a game.

I'm somewhat worried about SR3, but other than that, it's been a while since a game has disappointed me.

Alpha Protocol maybe?

MW2; all the flaws of CoD4 magnified and all the promised improvements shallow. Terrible plot, underdeveloped Spec-Ops idea and multiplayer as balanced as a capsizing ship and bug-free as Windows 95 on launch day.

You were surprised that a shooter was dissappointing? More importantly, you were surprised that multi-player sucks?

Seriously? Have you been gaming for more than 10 minutes? If so, then I'm afraid you may, in fact, have a severe case of being daft.

The story in Halo: Reach was fairly disappointing if you've read The Fall of Reach. Cortana was already with Master Chief, the Pillar of Autumn was not on Reach during the assault as it was in space blowing up Covenant ships, Covenant on Reach was not a surprise because of the massive battle in space that was taking place before the landing craft landed on the planet and finally, all forces on the ground were defending generators for the orbital MAC canons. Did no one on the Bungie dev team read the book? It was the literally the first one to come out in the extended universe!

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Rage, I mean its a decent game and all but its just.... not what I was hoping for, it gives you the illusion of freedom but with very little of it, it looked pretty good but close up allot of textures looked like doom 3 ones, the ending of it was just stupid, I think it would have been better if they kinda just went with post apocalyptic instead of throwing in the authority or whatever and made it more about the mutants being the big badguy force of nature thing, hell I don't think the authority even do anything to you, I don't remember even having a conversation with them.

Halo: Reach.
It wasn't just excitement, either. I spent like, a year on the Bungie.net forums in anticipation for the fucking thing. I was hanging on their every word. I watched every trailer get dissected, I read every Weekly Update, I skipped school for the Beta, I provided feedback.
Game comes out, has a shite campaign, made all the worse by the fact that Bungie considers it canon over the book, which was fantastic. It only had a handful of multiplayer maps, none of which were any good, because they were banking on Forge World, but even that was somehow disappointing. The Armour Abilities were retarded at best, pointless at worst; some (like the Jetpack) destroyed map balance, some (Active Camouflage) removed a dynamic from the game and castrated previous powerups, some (Armour Lock) just wrecked the damn game, and some (sprint, evade, hologram) were essentially useless. I remember a thread on B.net that proved (with a series of tests) that Bloom did not work as intended and rewarded people for spamming most of the time.
