I was looking for a game to buy and the guy at the store said: "Maybe you want to hear some epic storytelling?" and i sad why not. And then he handed me my precious..Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistance. I even played a bit of multiplayer as well. I think it's a gem worth mentioning.

In 2004 there was a game in a franchise whose last game left a horrible taste in my mouth. This taste lingered despite all the outrageously positive reviews. Until one day when it beat the original God of War for GOTY, I could take it no longer. I reluctantly bought it, and it ended being my all time favorite.

The name of the game...Resident Evil 4.

Oblivion, i was looking in a game store and saw the game of the year edition and said why not. I loved the game and I might have never played it.

My top favorite game I really would have never even tried if it wasn't for steam. I was bored and decided to check Steam of adventure games since I was in that mood where i wanted to play one since i grew up playing adventure games on my computer and I missed it. I came upon "The Longest Journey" and I LOVED it. It was set in a world that appealed to me and the story was just amazing. I loved every second that i played it.

Indeed. I haven't had the time to finish Vesperia yet, but I plan on getting around to it... sometime. As for Xillia, I'm glad that they're finally getting into their groove on current gen systems, but the character graphics in Xillia look a bit rough around the edges. They aren't as SD-looking as Vesperia's character models, but they don't look as crisp to me.

And yes, Teddy is amazing.
Vesperia is by far my favorite of the Tales games, mainly because all the characters are so well developed. Especially Yuri and Carol.
Be aware that all we've seen of Xillia are alpha stage videos, I expect there will be improvements by the time it hits store shelves. At the very least their animation is very up to standard, the in game cut scenes are looking very fluid as you can see in the video I posted. As long as the story and characters hold up to previous games though, I'll be happy.

The Sly Cooper Trilogy

Some months ago, I finally signed up for GameFly. On the first day (Hell, the first half hour) I filled my queue with games. A few weeks later, I was expecting the next game to arrive to be Mafia II. But I guess they didn't have any copies in stock at the time, so they sent me the next game in the list, Sly Cooper and The Thievius Racoonus. I was disappointed. While I've always wanted to play it, there were tons of other games at the time I had more interest in playing. "Oh well." I said, "I'll just play it and get it over with."

After the collective eight to ten hours it took me to complete it, I was in a shock.

Sly Cooper and The Thievius Racoonus was one of the best games I've ever played!

I went in the game expecting some slick and stylish stealth/platforming gameplay in varied luscious cel-shaded environments, and that's what I got. But what I didn't expect getting was genuinely likable protagonists, clever and funny dialog, a non-token romance subplot that actually develops the characters involved in it, and a unique and pretty dark story that was reminiscent of the stuff people and studios like Disney, Don Bluth, and Cartoon Network used to produce before they either lost popularity or jumped the shark.

It was a damn amazing game!

So naturally I got the sequel in ASAP.

Sly 2: Band of Thieves made significant improvements to the gameplay and visuals and still retained the great characters, funny writing, and quality story.

I wouldn't consider it better than the first, but it was still a fucking great game!

By the time was I gleefully waiting for Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves to arrive, I read on multiple pages and websites that its considered the weakest game in the series. So I was prepared to be slightly let down.

After completing a segment early in the game that had me playing as a paraplegic turtle competing in an opera singing contest with a lion crime boss, those little doubts in my mind were euthanized. Sly 3 was still just as fun and refreshing as its two predecessors, and once again still had the quality characters, writing, and story that kept me coming back to the series.

The ending was a double edged sword.

It was a great ending(which is why I'm not gonna spoil it)! It was one of the few instances in games that just had me all tingly and warm inside. But then I was brought down slightly when I realized that this was it. No more Sly games. Still, I didn't mind all that much. Sly 3 wrapped up everything nicely, and I was still satisfied.

I now consider The Sly Cooper Trilogy to be my all time favorite game franchise. All three games aren't perfect, but they really showcase exactly the kind of creativity and uniqueness video games today are capable of.

Now that a Sly 4 is possibly in the works, I really need to consider getting a PS3 soon.

I passed over Wind Waker for graphics reasons until someone got it for my birthday for the hell of it. I missed out on something amazing, absolutely amazing, love it still.

Shadows of the Colossus.

I think it was 6-12 months from release before I decided to play the game (seriously)?

Every day, I regret not being a first-day buyer. As I should. ;_;

Morrowind of all things!
I remember first seeming on the shelf and though it looked cool but never got it. Then, one day when I was about to leave the BX I just grabbed it and bought it.

Never regretted that snap decision ^^

Mr. BlackEyes over there forced me to play Mass Effect 2, and I was like "woah" and he was like "yup, told ya" and then he was like "play Persona 4" and I was like "woah" and he was like "yeah, Inorite?"

Long story short, keep up the suggestions, dood.

Morrowind.

I've had the GOTY edition I picked up for like $10 somewhere around forever ago, but I must have tried 5 or 10 times to get into it and I never could. Recently I finally managed to play through it mostly, though I still haven't really started the main quest.

I still don't think it's half as good as it's blind fanboys do, but it was still a pretty good game.

I probably wouldn't have played Fallout 3 if not for a good friend raving on about it and insisting I get it. I don't regret it for a second. :D

This happens to me a lot, I used to go into a Gamestop with $50 and buy as many used games as I could.

Morrowind? The graphics are horrible(yeah I was shallow about things like that at one time), how good could it be.

Gladius? What the hell is that? A Lucas Arts game that isn't Star Wars?

Final Fantasy X? Ugh, JRPG's. FF7 left a bad taste in my mouth.

Summoner 2? Never heard of it, the box is pretty though and it's only $5.

Mass Effect and Fallout 3 are some big ones of this generation. Resident Evil Remake on the GC is a big one too. OH and Shadow of the Colossus as well.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends and Shadow of the Colossus. I don't know why I bought either of them, but I'm glad I did. I just saw them on the shelf and thought, "Ooh, must have."

I almost passed up this game:

I went to blockbuster to rent a Harry Potter game (dont judge me) and I picked this one up because I had an extra free rental. Lets just say HP sat in its case while I fell in love with the force.

Chrono Trigger, It was one of those classics you say you'll get around to but never really do...
Just browsing Best Buy, I come across the DS version in the bargain bin for 10 bucks.
I'm so glad I didn't just bust out the emulator this time

I'd heard non-stop amazing things about Planescape: Torment, but figured it was a lost cause actually finding a copy of the game. I noticed a while ago that Good Old Games had it, but I didn't have a credit card, so that was moot. Then, a few months later, I got that evil little plastic rectangle, and remembered Torment.

OH GOD I'M SO GLAD I BOUGHT IT MY LIFE IS INFINITELY BETTER
