My friend and I lost two jobs between us because of Music2000.
Just became so engrossed in getting a composition just so that work ceased to matter or, in my case, Ijust lost track of the time. I started a song at around 3pm on a Tuesday and before Iknow it, it's 11am on a Wednesday. By then I couldn't even be arsed to make up some excuse.

That's why my 360 is at home right now.
I think the Escapist is worse, though.

No, i was a pretty hardcore wow player, yet still got high grades in my A levels and got into a top Uni. However, i know someone who played slightly less and failed because of the time he spent on the game. It's down to personal motivation, with these things you'll pass because of the effort you put in. You can't blame the game, you have the responsibility.

Actually, with the bad reputation gaming's been getting lately, do you really want to blame video games for your failure?

No, not gaming in specific. I've never failed anything, but I procrastinate a lot.

Bottom line is: I'm going to procrastinate, whether gaming is thre or not...

What I've gathered from this is that gaming does not cause people to procrastinate from work, the urge to procrastinate is already there and thus the gaming is simply an outlet for said pre-existing procrastination. I daresay, with enough thought this could be my English essay! Thanks Escapist!

I am a firm believer that playing a great game is just as good and restful as actual sleep.

I have research project due Wednesday, and I just started it an hour ago, b/c I was playing Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 all weekend. I don't blame it on video games though, I'm just a procrastinator.

It happens soemtimes, but there was a simple rule when I was younger- homework first, then videogames. And I had the sort of parents (IE, good ones) I didn't argue with this. Of course I lied and weaseled my way around it whenever I possibly could.

Procrastination isn't all bad. It often seems like putting off doing one thing makes me inspired to do other things. I came up with and wrote a short story once while putting off a Spanish paper. I've had multiple AHA! moments while trying not to do something else now that I think of it.

Your poor time management made you fail, not video games. Next thing you know they are going to blaim video games for school shootings.

Do you not watch the news, people always blame videogames for any type of crime. Usually its GTA, just yesterday i saw a story someone posted on these forums about kids who killed their grandma and almost another elderly women because of an e-rated game Katamari.

video games saved my ass.

Major programming project, a session of diablo 2, super project.

and excess of games is the problem.

I'm totally a hard-core procrastinator but I still blame that on myself, not the things I'm procrastinating... on. It's all down to will power. Computer game addiction is just an excuse to blame your failure on something. Haha sorry, but that's totally what I think.
