On Virmire, if you don't have enough charm/intimidation (or haven't completed Wrex's family armour quest) you have to kill him or Ash does it for you.

I tried to go through with it once. I couldn't. I reloaded and replayed....

When Nanami, your adopted sister, is killed saving you and your traitorous ex best friend. It's possible to save her, but even then she won't fight anymore.

if you haven't recruited the 108 Stars of Destiny, The Prince's bodyguard and romantic interest Lyon dies from a wound she recieved earlier in the game while saving The PRince from an assassin, you see her leaving along with the spirits of The Prince's mother, father and aunt, leaving the only his little sister still alive.

Also, if you make a bad tactical choice, The Prince's body double Roy will die a very sad death defending the castle, while The Prince and his close friends watch in horror.

I also felt very emotional at the ending of Silent Hill 2, it was fairly soul crushing.

Ah mods, as a console gamer I feel like a filthy little street urchin looking through the window of a sweet shop *drools*.

I feel like a upper-middle class person who has all they need and sees teh caviar for the fish eggs they are. Some of the mods in theory are cool, but they just add complications often and some are just out there and all are not needed to have tons of enjoyment.

BioShock's huge mindfuck mad my jaw drop on the floor. I was never so driven to get revenge in a game.
The situation with Dom's wife in GoW2 made me feel suprisingly emotional as well, didn't expect that.
And last but not least, the end of all Zelda games I ever finished. Be it Majora's Mask, Wind Waker or Ocarina of Time, they all touched me.
