Get some way to run PC on your mac. Some people use Boot Camp, although I prefer CrossOver Games. Then you can play a lot of games. Not all of them, but a fair amount.

Easy as that.

Steam is coming out soon for Mac, and you'll be able to run Half-Life 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike, etc. Valve has confirmed that all Source games will be mac-compatible, and they're usually pretty inexpensive.

Steam is coming out later this month. May I recommend source games? At least, that's what I'll be stocking up on. Which Macbook Pro did you get anyway?

Edit: Ninja'd.

A mate used boot camp to install Windows XP and dual boots it with Mac OS.
It's the only decent way to play games on a Mac, if you have the drive space. There's tonnes of guides for it on Mac forums so it shouldn't be too hard even if you're not tech savvy.

I don't play many games on my macbook but I have two that run natively on mac, Football Manager 2010 & Civilization IV, and the rest I just run on Vista through Bootcamp.
Steam soon though, so that should open up some options for you.

Valve is coming out with it's library. More FPS's would be nice.. Although I'll have to get a new mouse and key board. Although there are programs to run both. I think one was called parallels or some such.

Hearts of iron I'm fairly sure is on the mac, is a really good game if you like a complex strategy game. Warcraft 3 and all other blizzard games are on mac, but I think for diablo 2 and starcraft you might need OS 9

Don't do it.

Seriously, get a PC, or at least get Windows 7 or XP running on your mac book.

I heard Left 4 Dead series was being ported over to the Mac OS, so I say get them when it's out.

Has anyone mentioned Fable yet? Not the newest title but I've seen it around for the Mac.

Rome total war recently got on the mac. I'm not sure if mods work with it though. It's fun regardless though.

AS has already been said Valve is bringing steam to Intel based Macs, including ALL its source based games, including HL2+episodes, Portal, L4D, LFD2. All those with multiplayer on the PC, will have it on the Mac and will play on the PC servers against PC and Mac players.

Also its a one account for both platforms deal, and one game for both platforms, that means if you own any of them, or buy any of them in the future, you'll be avble to play them on both a PC or a Mac.

Blizzard is the only other major developer with a similar development ethos with regards to both platforms. Most others if their game appears on a mac its becasue someone else ported it on license from them, and you have to buy a copy for each platform, AND you tend to not have cross platform play.

Gamersgate, Direct-2-Drive, EA Store, Blizzard and (when it launches) Steam are your friends. All has (or will) a section listing the Mac games available.

Although, *insert standard-issue "use Windows for gaming" post here*

Steam is planned to be released on Mac's some time (not sure when) - so you'll have Valve's entire back catalogue and all future games then.

You should probably dual boot with windows if you want to play games though.

You should hold out. It seems like Apple wants their computers to be taken more seriously as gaming platforms with the new Macbooks and the Steam support (whenever that actually happens). I know 7000 people are going to come in and comment on the inferiority of the hardware for the new Macbooks compared to gaming PCs, but it's a pretty big step they're taking. I still wouldn't buy a Mac for gaming (I have played exactly zero games on mine), but you know when Apple starts going after a market, they come in fast.
