Well, do you know what processor you're getting first off? No point starting with a motherboard with no idea what processor you're going to use with it.

You can't go wrong with getting an i5 2500k which will overclock beautifully is around £100 cheaper than an i7 and in gaming yields identical if not slightly better results. If you get the 2500k you will need a socket 1155 motherboard probably in the $150 dollar range for you.

I myself am building a computer - you can see my thread and take a look at the specs of my machine.

Also a good bit of information to give us is if you need peripherals like mouse/keyboard/screen/operating system? If you have some or all of them already then that will make your money go further on your hardware.

doh you are right mate!

Sorry I've had a nightmare :p I got confused because past few days I was finally realising getting an "old" i7 in 1366 would be silly when I could get a new i5 2500k in 1155 :p.

Will edit my post!

Struggling with minecraft? Is that even possible? I'll admit, I don't play minecraft, but doesn't it have fairly low requirements?

I can't suggest anything specific, but I can suggest going to tigerdirect or newegg and reading reviews. Those are fairly reliable.

Ok so im going to ask THE question what graphics card are you using? Because I just built my new tower and above all else thats usually whats going to hit the pocket book hardest when building if you cant transfer your current one. if you are only spending on specifically a motherboard and cpu theres a large array you can go with for $800, but if you going for a full build you are going to be a bit limited at that price. Just a minor note what are your current system specs? Or do you know what issue your computer is haveing with minecraft?
