What game do you think was empowered by it's soundtrack? And where was the music used particularly well?
I have a gaming soundtrack channel on youtube.

Pretty much anything by Yasunori Mitsuda or Nobuo Uematsu. You can hate Square all you want, but you have to admit they've had some pretty awesome composers working for them.

Bioshock's soundtrack totally adds to the feeling of creepiness with the cello and just general melancholy sound. Also the Silent Hill soundtracks succeed in scaring me silly.

-The Zelda theme, back in the day of 8 bit gaming, it was the shit!
-FF7 sephiroth theme at the end was something new indeed
-FF13 (which came today!) the battle music in that is pretty damn good
-MGS the part with sniper wolf in the snowfield, just beautiful
-Some instances of Bayonetta had pretty good music
-Terminator on the Sega CD had some pretty cool music, for its time at least

thats all I can think of really

don't mean to be a facist but did you search bar this? I'm pretty sure one of these threads pop up per week.

On topic though:

Great game but soundtrack is the smallest part of the greatness.

Alternatively:
Quake II
Steve Jablonsky's C&C3 Tib wars soundtrack is pretty good as well but not as good as his Sims 3 one.

Civ IV (especially the track Baba Yetu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G30MhXmlZGE) FTW

I really like Jesper Kyd's work on Hitman: Blood Money and Assassin's Creed 2. The Hitman score is one of my all time favourite scores (for a movie or game)
I also quite like Garry Schyman's work on Bioshock 1&2

And, of course, Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask both have excellent scores, as does Goldeneye

TES3: Morrowind has the most beautiful soundtrack for a video game of all time. I would love to her those compositions played live. I would get chills!

Oh! The soundtrack to Quake was pretty awesome too! I'm a little biased as I'm somewhat in love with Trent Reznor though...

Battlefield Vietnam has an amazing one.

Assassins Creed II OST is awesome as well, especially Venice Rooftops [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG-WSPRC1e0].

Several Castlevania games (especially SotN).

Also, Heavy Rain OST lately, since I'm working on mystery based, modern day story-tell RPG for my friends and HR music fits in like a glove. It's good just to listen as well.

Bioshock, or, more specifically, Cohen's outburst.

The dissonance between a song like Waltz of the Flowers and the splicer battle you're having just propel it into the level of amazing.
