Lies! Lies I tell you! /sarcasm
Oh, and girls that do game only play Sims or RPGs or Harvest Moon.

/Really chaps my hide...
I find that ironically funny, cause the only girls i know that game at all, only play the sims. This is not me saying that what you said isn't true. I just so happens that the only girls that i know that play anything play sims. i am more than aware that this is not true for all "gamer girls"

Were not all lazy house bound geeks. A lot of us practice sport.

Were not all useless in a fight, as with the mentioned about the sports practised by many of gamer geeks tend to be martial arts such as karate, Boxing and Muay Thai.

We are not all lazy idiot who neglect school to play computer games... many gamer geeks tend to do well at school.

Michael Atkinson, we are not all violent morel-less monsters, in fact I don't think even a quarter of gamers fit that description.

That we all are not fat, paled skinned, acne ridden, basement dwellers with a bunch of collectible limited edition figurines.

Not all of us are fat, depressed, or willing to kill someone if they so much as breathe in our general direction.

I could bring in the whole "not all gamers are male" but a) I've been ninja'd at least twice and b) That's pretty obvious.

not ALL videogames are about bashing people's skulls in. there's substance in pulp fiction outside of John Travolta blowing that guy's head off

That videogames are for kids. My parents drive me nuts with that one. I tell them the stat about the average age off a gamer being somewhere in the thirties, but it does not sway them.
Not that this will help you but I'm 45 and have been gaming since the early arcade video games, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

This Jack Thompson quote

It's not rocket science when a kid who has never killed anyone in his life goes on a rampage and looks like the terminator he's a Video Gamer
Plus his idea that FPS "train" people to kill in real life, Mr. Thompson may be disbarred but there are still people who think like this and I'd like to put an end to it.

What gaming false stereotype would you like to clear? For example I am a Halo fan. I'm not twelve years old, I'm not homophobic and my default responce to everything is NOT to call it a fag. Most Halo fans agree when I say weve had enough of being called 12 year old idiots by everyone who hasnt bothered to play Halo! So what steroetype would YOU like to clear?
That games are "games". Sure some video games are the equivalent of toys (Halo's an example of this), but others have depth, immersion, puzzles, hardships, and psychological value. Even halo has those elements. Video games are virtual interactive mediums. Some are toys, some are puzzles, some are relaxing, some make you think, etc. But they're for the "mature" and children a like. They are not toys!
Now there's a source of contention for another thread. Videogames are virtual, interactive toys. We're playing games on a toy. The real issue here is making the general public understand that these toys were designed for children, teens and adults, and that most games were designed for the teen-adult demographic. These toys have just as much benefit to adult development and entertainment as our baby dolls and leggo did as children.

That gamers have a short attention span from gaming too much/being on the internet too long. Smart arsed journalists and older generations often come to this conclusion, as though folks in their day just loved to do nothing but homework and the ironing for hours on end.

I want to disagree with this guy, but he is mostly right. But then I'd argue most other forms of adult recreation (including reading) are just toys.

We do not all wear glasses. Granted, a lot of us do, but it's by no means a universal thing.

Also, we don't all wear shirts tucked into our trousers, have braces, and have cropped hair.

Hell, people have a hard time believing I'm a gamer, I look like a stoner!
Most gamers aren't stoners, but every stoner I know is a gamer. It's pretty cool.

I for one have short hair and dress nice. Most people don't think I'm a gamer, and I have more female friends than male friends (I'm a dude). Most are genuinely surprised if they find out I play WoW.

Also, my mum doesn't think games are for kids. Not after seeing some of the games I play.

I see what you did there. ;)

I would like to add:

That being a gamer does not automatically make you a homicidal axe wielding manic who has no perception of reality who will shoot up his school, kill his friends, his family, himself or think he can fly and has no concept of morality.

We are people just like anyone else. Just because you read a book on Jack the Ripper does not mean your going to become a Rapist, likewise with games.

Perhaps not, but can I go all gush over your username nonetheless? One of my favorite characters ever...

OT:
One note about the short attention span: don't worry, scientists are now blaming your cell phones. Happy?
