The ending to MGS3 was pretty emotional for me, but the biggest moment was watching Big Boss salute the Boss's grave while he shed a tear. That one moment definitely made me tear up.

Well; I've never cryed after playing a game...but the ending of the new Prince of Persia made me angry in a good way...

As pathetic as this is, in Second Sight (kudos to anyone who knows about it) I almost burst into tears when I found Jane Wilde in the asylum and had to lead her out. She'd mumble innocently every now and then, and scream and panic whenever a gun was fired. I also stared dumbly with my mouth open when she got shot in the end, thank goodness
that didn't actually happen.

I've never actually been brought to tears, but I guess some game moment that had me closest to it would be

I: Aeris' death (I know, easily anticipated); the music is just too befitting for the whole scene and that part where Cloud lets go of her and she just kind of sinks and fades into the pool, threatens to get you every time

II: Fallout 3's ending; first...because it was so damn disappointing, second of all because I knew that my epic wasteland adventure had come to its close until March

There was a lot of layers to Aeris' death, really.
There was a lengthy setup where she goes missing and you're trying to find her. When you do find her, there's a brief relief to find her well, then Sephiroth pretty much comes in as an unexpected assassin, smirks as he finishes her off, and then starts ranting his Jenova-inspired tirade while Cloud attempts to explain the wrong he did.
Then Sephiroth slinks off before you can get any kind of satisfaction confronting him, delivering a final scathing line that, soon afterwards, causes Cloud to completely lose his mind. Cloud and friends cope with sending Aeris off, in that powerful scene you describe here.

Much later, it turns out Aeris was planning on dying all along - a sacrifice to contact life force in the planet. At the end game cut scene, it seems she might have seen the whole plot unfolding from the beginning cut scene. Flirty wench.

Fallout 3 was a fairly good tear-jerker, but that would be from aspects of the plot other than how it robs you of the satisfaction of choice or a good recap. Really, the lack of satisfaction aspect sort of hurts the impact of the plot.

I have never actually cried, but Shadow of the Colossus made me pretty close when

You are running across a rock bridge with Agro (your horse), and it starts to collapse. Agro flings you off his back and into safety while condemning himself to death (not really however, he just gets injured). It made me sad thinking that I would never see him again.

Twilight Princess has come the absolute closest to making me cry over a video game. Not only was I sad that the game was over, but
the ending is just so sad. After witnessing Midna shatter the Mirror of Twilight, I felt a lump in my throat and a tear trying to form in my eye. It's handled perfectly, and gets sadder every time I watch it. If Nintendo decides to turn Zelda into a casual experience (and they probably will), then at least I can thank them for ending the true series as best as they possibly could have.

The only gaming event that has made me cry is the ending of Silent Hill 2 because I can relate to it.

Actually to be honest, Gear of War 2 NEARLY did when
Dom finally finds his wife but she's a shell of her former self and he decides to end her misery.

That was only yesterday! What a wussie I am.
I was laughing at that bit, you saw that coming a mile off

Surprisingly a game has never made me cry, They've made me feel sad, but not cry, which is strange because I cry during movies all the time, I'm a sap for sad situation combined with sad music. I don't believe Game Development has gone so far story wise yet, don't get me wrong, they are getting close and obviously movies have years and years over them. Just takes time.

It sounds kinda lame, but...
In the middle of Twilight Princess...
When you think Zelda is dead.
I cried a little at that point,
or the saddening trip on the way to see her,
When Midna ALMOST dies.

The big one- Killing The Boss in MGS3. Even after figuring out that you had to pull the trigger yourself I still waited like a minute for some way out of this awful situation. So what if I get a worse ending? Sadly, there isn't a way out.

The little one- Recently finished Metroid Prime 3. No tears, but even though you only met each of them for a few scenes, having killed all three of the corrupted bounty hunters must have struck some kind of emotional chord within me because I was so distracted after murdering Gandrayda that I actually died to a bunch of Hypermode Crawltanks.

Probably any well-done part where you must personally execute an ally or a character that you personally liked, brainwashed or not, would work. I can't place the title but I remember a similar scene in an anime where one friend held the other's gun barrel to his head so he couldn't move it away despite the friend's protests. He wished to be executed for the greater political 'good', much like The Boss.

Quoted for motherfucking truth. Damn you Valve...damn you.

Whoever mentioned FEAR also had a great point; that game was creepy on multiple layers, and the fact that...

...your mother is trying to kill you throughout the whole game, as well as everyone else who even gets close to her, if only because her father abused her tremendously. This is both extremely sad, and rage-inducing.

The only thing in any form of media ever to make me cry is the death of Optimus Prime. I am a stronger man because of it as nothing quite stacks up to it's sheer tragedy.

Prime, you can't die! *Sob*

When I was about eleven I played Planetfall (an old Infocom text adventure) and when Floyd sacrifices himself at the end to save you moved me to tears. That scene is now famous as one of the earliest examples of a strong emotional narrative in a computer game.

Hm... I am a very sensitive person to these kind of things, but I can't remember crying over a video game before. I'm going to have to reach into the farthest memories of my mind...hold on...

Ahh, I can't think of anything... x-P

I cry A LOT during movies though (I'm not ashamed) and the most recent one has to be V for Vendetta. The whole movie has a somber tone to it, but the scene that killed me the most was Valerie's Letter. It tears me up just thinking about it... ='(

I've never cried about a game, but there have been several moments that just really got to me, like in Lost Odyssey when Kiam finds that long lost family member and then the resulting funeral sequence. Also the ending of Bioshock (good ending) when you see that Jack gave up all that power to give a life to the little sisters
