Pokemon Pokemon Pokemon Pokemon,

did I mention Pokemon? POKEMON!

Near-Future society with beautiful natural scenery and animals with super powers that co-exist mutually with us. It's ferpect.
That's the most obvious answer. It seems the Pokemon never ever ever attack humans, so, yeah, no problems there.

I'd take the trade-off of having to be a vegan to be there (it doesn't seem that any other animals exist and meat is never ever discussed as a food item.)
There are real animals there but they're boring so the show pretty much phased them out.

I'm going to go with the obvious Pokemon answer. The world is one huge gaping pollution-free primal gaia-sphere and you can go hiking all over it surviving purely on the good will of humankind and your ability to catch and tame wild monsters. It's gorgeous, it's free and it's fun. Who wouldn't want to live there? Your biggest concern would be the hedonistic pleasure of friendly battles and collecting.

Not many considering they have such things to worry about as mad dragon gods and meteors destroying everything. Even worlds that are seemingly innocent have issues. Imagine if you lived in the universe of Ratchet and Clank, you'd have to worry about a stranger randomly turning you into a sheep or a chicken. Who wants to be a sheep? I know I don't.

Pokemon might be fun though.
:(
Now I'm sad....
You're just jealous of our woolly awesomeness!

OT: Probably the Mass Effect universe and specifically on the Citadel. High tech future, near instant Galactic travel, dozens upon dozens of races with unique histories and cultures to study?
Not to mention all the hot alien sex just waiting to happen?
Sign me the hell up!
And when the Reapers show up I'd imagine there would be a lot of "Last day alive" sex going around.

I totally don't have an alien fetish thats been around since I was a kid >_>

And even if I were poor it would probably be better there then if I were poor in modern day earth.

Also can;t forget about all that shiny, tasty tech :D
Needs more Metal though. The electronic music is nice but rather bland in the series imo.

While doubtlessly not the kind of answer being sought, I will say that pretty much every video game world I can think of would suck since just about all of them are being threatened by forces that only a tiny handful of heroes can deal with. I'm no hero, so unless I got to also choose who or what to be, I'd probably pass.

The thing that gets me about Pokémon is that it recurs in discussions like this, yet to be honest that would be one of the most horrible worlds to live in. For the most part you play Pokémon as one of the lucky few who gets to be a trainer, typically given your first Pokémon and gear by some weird coincidence when you luck into meeting a wandering professor. For the most part however there is going to be the pokemon using master-class, and a world full of victims otherwise. Remember this is a universe where horrible, predatory monsters go running around everywhere, in Pokémon Platinum there is even a scene at the beginning where it's mentioned how dangerous it is just to walk in tall grass (yet your going to do it anyway before you get a Pokémon). These games go with a happy, care-free attitude for the most part, but that's because they deal with a microcosm of events, not all the poor goobers who probably have robots with buzzsaws for hands come walking through the door and kill their entire family... and population wise that's probably closer to how most people live. Remember that some of the "evil organizations" you fight are plotting world domination through using Pokémon, and conceptually they have a shot, even when largely using crappy Pokémon for the most part (well compared to you) doubtlessly due to numbers and the simple fact that not many people have them.

I guess it's wrong, but I derive a degree of enjoyment from pointing this out about the Pokémon universe. Truthfully I'm surprised so few people thought it through or paid attention to the details. Perhaps with the current trend towards making everything grim and dark, eventually we'll see someone do a Pokémon game dealing with the other 99% of the world. A game where you get to watch a master race of monster controllers being given basic care, transportation, and other needs for free while they travel and grow more powerful, while you are part of a servile class that takes out the trash, builds the buildings, and has to hide in the cracks for constant fear of some 11 year old siccing her pet monster on you, or some wandering predator making a snack out of you.... a stealth survival Sim, where we find out how you can survive in Pokémon as one of the other 99%.... graphic deaths are a must for scenes like "You have offended, Pre-schooler Mindi, Pre-schooler Mindi calls Pikachu... Pikachu paralyzes you with taser-like lighting discharges before slowing devouring you, starting with a slit in the abdomen from which it slurps our your intestines like spaghetti! Pre-schooler Mindi laughs and takes your money off your defiled corpse (also explaining how these little kids walk around with phat rolls of cash)".

Pokemon is the obvious choice, but I wouldn't mind Monster Rancher either.

That looks like some good Clauncher and Combusken:

The games actually reference the eating of Pokemon in a bit of lore (in DPPt there's a story about a guy going around with a sword randomly killing Pokemon and eating them before they confront him and they learn to work together or somthing like that), but the show has actually since steered away from portrayals of eating meet as far as I can tell. They eat fruit sandwiches, ice cream and more ambiguous stuff like curry, stew, etc. rather than stuff that's blatantly meat.

I've been ninja'd by most of the thread, the world of Pokemon it is for me! Unlike most game worlds, Pokemon is the only one where everyone has access to power, in most RPG settings the NPCs have little to no power, but in the Pokemon Universe anyone can attain power if they really commit to it.

State where, preferably why. Feel free to elaborate(or post pictures!) if you think it's needed.

Bioshock infinite all the way. Rapture would get claustrophobic, but Columbia? A floating city with technologic advancement far before it's time? Nice suits? Robot horses? Sign me up!

I'm not a racist douchenozzle, so I could even help out some more unfortunate folk while I'm there. I'd have to keep a close ear on the ground and an escape pod or something when things heat up, but it'll be fun while it lasts.

Well, Columbia would largely depend on which side of the equasion you wind up on. For the most part you generally have to be wealthy to begin with in Columbia, at the end of the day it doesn't matter what your race is, you come to Columbia without resources and you either wind up being someone's servant (and probably maltreated) or in the ghettos. While it was an exaggeration, it does a pretty good job of covering why I am so pro-union and a big believer in worker's rights (something which rarely comes up on these forums, but is an area I lean substantially towards the left on).

That said, I'm not sure if I can really use the term "racist douchenozzle" with a straight face when talking about that game. It's 1912 and those attitudes were pretty accurate to the time with a lot of inertia behind them. To be honest it struck me as being a bit unusual that Booker and Elizabeth had such liberal sentiments, especially Elizabeth who was supposed to be a literal book-educated ivory tower case who should by rights have had her attitudes on such things largely defined by books written by people from the time who were themselves racists. I guess they wanted to try to avoid being too offensive in portraying the period. To be honest the people of the time didn't know any better and attitudes were reinforced by current events, it took decades for society and attitudes to change.

To be honest, if you did wind up time/dimension traveling to that world, and were able to get into the good sections of Columbia, the wise thing to do would be to keep decades more advanced morality to yourself. Incidently one thing Bioshock infinite did point out in a way was that the revolutionaries were just as stupid and short sighted as the
guys they were fighting against. They also seemed to have no real plan as to what to do other than wreck a bunch of stuff, which is why most revolutions tend to immediately turn into civil wars. On a lot of levels Booker's pragmatic attitude on it was similar to my own, and when I started hearing some of the revolutionaries going off for the first time along with his occasional comment to Elizabeth I was thinking "no, they couldn't possible be about to go there and do this right and show where this would actually go" and then they did.

At any rate, a lot of rambling about nothing. Truthfully the first thing I'd want to do on Columbia is ask why if they are secretly using Quantum lift systems to propel this city, why their version of Drones aren't using scaled down versions and instead are being lifted by hot air balloons.... :)

Well I have to go with the obligitory Pokemon choice because it would be fun, despite what Therumancer says. XD

Another choice would have to one of the Animal Crossing towns, not New Leaf though because I'd get too stressed out when I'm mayor. That and another world would be the Ape Escape world, mainly because it's just be awesome to see the Pipo Monkeys. (please note I'm excluding Ape Escape Move from this)

The Mirror's Edge city seems just dandy, if you're not into making like Spider-Man with mysterious packages.

Also, there are quite a few games that imply the super high technology you use has been disseminated to the world at large, like in Quantum Conundrum or Team Fortress 2.

I thought I'd be the only one saying this in the thread, but nevermind that! I've been ninja'd again!

OT- Lordran, but before everything went to shit. Seems like most of the population would've been pretty cool guys. =)

Pokemon.

It would be glorious.

I have often asked myself this question and it is always pokemon, its just an amazing fun place. And it would be utterly beautiful if it was real and not made out of Nintendo software.

Goddammit! I thought there would be few people choosing Pokemon world! Well, I can't say I blame you. :)
My reasons are that:
First, I'd be smarter than everyone else, since everyone told schools to fuck off.
Second, I know where all the Legendaries live and how to beat them, so I'd be unstoppable really soon! >:D
Third, come on! It's freakin' POKEMON! If my food was too cold, Ninetales heats it up; if my grass is too tall, Scyther cuts it, if I want to take care of my garden, Dugtrio works the soil for my plants; I want the remote for the TV, but it's too far, then Alakazam picks it up with telekinesis for me (of course he'd be slacking off on the couch as well!); and if I was still in high-school, I'd have Machamp beat up some kids for me. :p Ah, the days I fantasized with living in a Pokemon world... XD
Ok, besides that obvious choice, I'd take Mushroom Kingdom (where there's so many magic stuff that gives you powers!), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (I'd be on a caravan and fight every year to get magic Dew Drops to keep my village going for another year! Fighting monsters, seeing the beautiful world, conquering gigantic beats, meeting new people, getting a lot of powerful magic - I'd so love to have enough fire power to conjure a small sun on my enemies... :D ), and Gensokyo (because it's just awesome to share the world with Goddesses, Witches, Youkais, Onis, Vampires, Fairies, etc; plus being able to travel to Heaven, Limbo, Hell, Forests, mountains, flying ships...; I'd just like to have a decent ability so that I could last long enough to appreciate the world before dying a horrible death ^_^' ).

Manaan, from KOTOR I, at least as a vacation destination. Being able to watch the sun set across the water would be wonderful. It might get a little boring, but as long as I didn't disrupt the manufacture of Kolto, I'd be able to leave and return as often as I'd like. :p

Minus the Objectivist lunacy, I'd like to live in Rapture. Being under the sea would not bother me, and the Art Deco architecture would be paradisaical, as that is my favorite art style.

Well, if I could be one of my characters from the game I'd live in Paragon City from City of Heroes.

Can I be really weird and say post-apocalyptic Earth, ie Falloutsville?

I don't know why, but it just appeals.

The only thing that keeps that from being my desktop is the bibarel. If it was something like a Floatzel, etc. That'd be my wallpaper forever, a badass scene with my favorite pokemon in action fighting a Gyarados? Awesome. Bibarel? Not-awesome-at-all.

I would say Pokemon but it's now past the time for something different.

I'd say Tamriel in the Elder Scrolls games UNDER THE CONDITION that I always get to have full control of where my soul goes after I die. Those Black Soul gems... D: Also, some planes of Oblivion didn't look very nice in their The Doors of Oblivion brochure.
