Awesome, time for another shameless plug of my series on game music [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Top-Ten-Songs].

I've made so many of these posts, maybe I'll pick a few different examples-

And it's not the version from the game, but-

While lots of soundtracks are great, Armored Core 4 and For Answer (and Nexus) stand out to me because they're so different from everything else you'll hear.
Definitely agree with you on that. I was introduced to this one in another one of these threads and loved it-

Masashi Hamauzu does great soundtracks. I consider SF2's to be his best work, but Sigma Harmonics' soundtrack is also incredibly good. Oddly enough, I consider FFXIII to be one of his weaker efforts, despite being the one most people have heard.
That said, the Battle Theme of XIII was quite possibly the best main battle theme in the series since VII, which has, for my money, the best main battle music of any game ever.
Oh yeah, it definitely was one of the best battle themes in the series. I mean FFXIII had a great soundtrack overall too. It just goes to show how good a composer he is when it can be considered to not be his best. It makes me sad that he gets overshadowed a lot. Sometimes it feels like Uematsu (Classic FF), Shimomura (Kingdom Hearts), and Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger/Cross, Xenogears) are the only three Japanese composers anyone has heard of.
Don't get me wrong, they're all wonderful, but there's a lot of great video game music coming out of Japan.

Also here's probably my favorite song from Armored Core: Nexus (Okay technically the End Roll is, but it's just a combination of this song and another one).
And one more (from an arranged album):

Also I always really liked Donkey Kong Country music. It was kind of a strange juxtaposition of wackiness and serenity to be playing as monkey that can glide by using her ponytail as a helicopter while listening to some of the best ambient music in a video game.

I am playing Beyond Good and Evil atm, and was pleasantly surprised by the track 'Slaughterhouse Scramble'.

I love BGaE's soundtrack.

Inon Zurs music for Fallout 3 was fantastic. Epic, foreboding and exhilarating.

Jeremy Soules music for Oblivion and Morrowwind sets the tone beautifully. Like Zur his compositions evoke a sense of place and trepidation within the respective games.

And ofcourse, the epic that is God of War has some of the great classical pieces of recent history. Gerard K Marino has given us some huge, bombastic titles that deserve far more credit than they get. I'm surprised the main theme is not as ubiquitous as Clint Mansells Lux Aeterna.
