Anyone hear about gangs in their local news a lot? Are gangs a big issue where you live?

The city where I frequent has been "gang central" of the province for a while. I live in a town outside of the center so crime is fairly low but it isn't uncommon for the word gang to pop up in a news story about a young offender.

I live in B.C. near Vancouver. We HAD a lot of gang stuff, but it kind of died down once we put those Bacon brothers away.

There are what could be qualified as gangs in sunny Gothenburg, but in comparison to the American ones, they're little more than an irritation. Beyond petty crime and vandalism, they don't aspire higher than the occasional muggings or robberies. Hell, they don't even have guns. It's kind of adorable in a way, them pretending to be these hardened gangsters right out from Compton when they're really clueless teenagers with too little to do.

There is the proper, organized criminals, but they're honestly rather harmless unless you have something they want. They know what they're doing and wouldn't risk jailtime for something petty. I'd prefer them over the littlelest gangsta-groups, anyway, who lose control of their hormones and go stabbing as soon as their pushover-caper goes awry.

I live in a really small town in California. We don't really have any gang issues here considering the population is only 25k and not much really happens here.

Yep, down here in Tucson there is some pretty bad shit. Not really traditional gangs like Crypts or Bloods, but there's a lot of Drug pushers down from Mexico, and around Douglas there's a good deal of Cartel Activity, with a few headless bodies showing up every now and again.

Absolutely not. I live in Winchester, in England, and it's so quiet that in almost two years I've only been started on a couple of times and never particularly seriously.

On the other hand, I used to live in both Southampton and High Wycombe at different points and they are...less quiet, shall we say.

That actually hurt my mind while making sense of it... I think your H and F are broken.

OT: Not really. Ely is a pretty small city by all standards, there's bigger pickings to be had in Cambridge for any thugs.

Here in New Zealand we dont really have gangs, we have wannabe gangs that try to copy the real American gangs, Bloods/Crips ect.

Not much going on in NSW, just have to be careful when a bunch of lads get together and try to start shit.

Generally the rule is don't fuck with the bikers and they won't fuck with you.

I live in Richmond, a city right beside Vancouver. This happened a while ago but I only recently found out that a very popular arcade in the city was actually a front for the Yakuza, yes that Yakuza, it was shut down. If your curious the name of the place was Rush Arcade.

Leicester's basically just the usual scratters, pikies and soccer thugs, nothing too organised (the businesses/council, on the other hand...)

Aside the occasional spillover from Birmingham or Millwall away games it's pretty average.

Closet gang activity here in Wisconsin are the Mexican gang wannabes who "terrorize" the bad parts of Milwaukee.

Its mostly drugs and prostitution not a lot of violent crime although
they would like you to think they do.

Gangs are still a problem in the US especially in Cali but the days of random gang violence and huge all out turf wars were over with the 90's

Crime in general has consistently gone down in the US since the 90's
