Gargoyle's Quest Is Coming To The West

21 years later, Gargoyle's Quest is returning to handheld consoles outside of Japan.

Gargoyle's Quest is one of those titles that a lot of gamers have been clamoring for a rerelease of, ever since the Virtual Console system was launched by Nintendo. It's not surprising, since Capcom's Ghosts 'n Goblins Game Boy spinoff was pretty great. The game was released in Japan via the 3DS eShop, but no Western release has been revealed ... until now, that is.

It turns out that the action platformer/RPG has received a rating in Australia, which means that the game is probably going to come out in the rest of the Western territories. The game's been rated PG for "Mild Violence." Seeing as how the game was released in North America in 1990, there obviously shouldn't be any localization problems.

Unfortunately, there's no real known details about the game yet, like a release date or price point. That said, anyone who's a fan of quality RPGs should pick it up when it comes to their country.

This has nothing to do with Ultimate MvC3. Nooo, that would be silly.
Well, I'm a helluvalot more likely to play this than Ultimate MvC 3...

I'm just saying that this character is featured in that glorified expansion pack, and suddenly his game is released. Quite the coincidence.

Well, sorta. It was one of the first 3DS VC titles released in Japan. That said, Capcom undoubtedly planned the timing, but it seems safe to assume that it would've eventually happened anyway.

Assume nothing when it comes to sensible western releases for Japanese products.

Is that a skeleton riding a Segway I see? I approve.
It makes a gripping statement about the juxtaposition between ecological reform and capitalist excess doesn't it? And who says games aren't art?

I actually am one of those old guys to actually play the Original on my gameboy as a kid and I loved it back then. It's pretty funny that this announcement comes right now because just two days earlier I was thinking about this one o_O
IMO it's a great rerelease (IF it's released outside of Japan) and I highly recommend it...this mix of PLatforming and RPG should still hold up pretty well, especcially on a handheld.

So this is where Firebrand comes from? Well, now it makes a little bit more sense then before. I thought he was just some minor enemy from Ghouls & Ghosts.

I'm wondering why they're calling him firebrand. Not that I object, I like it and it's catchier than his old name. But he used to have another name:

I'm suprised this got past the Australian censor. That imp in the top left of the screenshot is clearly not wearing any clothes.
