Come Together, Eleanor Rigby, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, Sexy Sadie, I Am the Walrus, and Hey Jude. Those are the only Beatles songs I like, so they're the only ones I'll recommend.

Are you sure she's actually interested in being introduced? Maybe it's just not important to her.

I really wish people would shut up about their old favourite bands. Most of my conversations about music ends up in me being alienated because I don't like Metallica or The Beatles or some other music that just sounds boring to me. "How can you not like" "you haven't lived until you've heard" "There must be something wrong with you" "I feel sorry for you if" "you have a bad taste in music".

Whether you like the music or not, you can't deny the influence of The Beatles as a cultural and musical icon. Not knowing about The Beatles is like not knowing about Mozart, or Leonardo da Vinci, or Einstein. It's cultural ignorance.

500 years from now when a simplified Music of the 20thC is taught in schools, Stravinsky, Schoenberg and The Beatles will be the artists taught.

Music of the 21stC will revolve around study of The Bieber and his Grand Army of Clones, watched over by the Church of True Beliebers. Oh, what a glorious era.

I then ask her if she's heard other well known Beatles songs and the only ones she knew were Hello Goodbye and Twist and Shout.
So she has heard of them? What is the point of this thread then. And just because you worship them, doesn't mean everyone likes them. I don't care for them because their music is that great, and they created boy bands.

*sits and waits for the untrue "if they weren't around the music you listen to wouldn't be" bullshit reply*
I don't worship the Beatles in any way. I wouldn't even include them in my top 10 favorite bands (which doesn't exist because I'm a snotty music prick who changes his list of favorite bands every couple of minutes). And since you already foresaw the argument against your post, I'll skip that. Whether or not you see their influence in the world of music, it's there and that's that.

When I play them for her it doesn't matter to me whether she likes them or not, I personally love half their stuff and generally don't like the rest. What I'm saying is odd is the fact she hadn't really heard them. She was familiar with Hello Goodbye and Twist and Shout but did not know they were Beatles songs. I'm surprised at the extreme emotional response against the beatles here. I understand not liking them, I hate the vast majority of radio music, but when I here people talk about the black eyed peas or taylor swift I don't get angry, I just move on and realize my interests aren't the same as others everyone else's.

I don't like The Beatles either. It isn't mandatory guys.
This isn't about LIKING them, this is about NEVER KNOWING that the band even exists.
But the girl in the OP quite clearly did know they existed, she even named a couple of songs.
