Oh lawdy... That is bad, horribad, terrible and absymal. Master Chief meets teen drama, with the worst acting you've ever seen!

Well, at least it's a good candidate for MST3K or RiffTrax.

Looks like a much less fun Starship Troopers.
My sentiment exactly. At least Verhoeven had the nerve and skill to create a satire of the movie genre and book that the film was made in and inspired by. The training scenes in Starship Troopers worked because they were subtly telling the audience how awful the entire thing was, I doubt a movie based on Halo will have anything even close to resembling that nuance.
I agree.

I think whats even more hilarious are the comments that youtube page is getting. Almost all votes are positive and every 4-5 comments theres someone talking about "jizzing" themselves....It's almost sad, if it wasn't so laughable.

This looked like a parody, rather than an actual movie trailer. This is supposed to be a HALO movie, not some whiney teen drama flick. The acting was TERRIBLE, bland characters, even the chief seemed more robotic than he normally is.

"Get behind me, I'm your only chance for survival" He never would have said that, chief doesn't explain himself because he never needed to. Him being your only chance for survival is already implied, the most he would say is "get behind me". I know that sounds nitpicky but I've played Halo from the very first release. I don't give 2 fucks about Halo 4 since it's not Bungie but I loved them all, Halo 2 and 3 have some of my best gaming memories.

If you want an amazing trailer, check out the much older one. Now THAT is how you shoot action scenes. I'm willing to bet this didn't need a bloated budget either.

I'm assuming this isn't canon because Deja is an AI, Kurt and Mendez are presumably one entity and Master Chief comes out of fucking nowhere. Unless these are Spartan-IVs which in that case this means this is set during Halo 4 which isn't much of a prequel >.>.

Anyone have any solid information? I'm really confused right now.

I feel it is a bit early to tell. A big part of it is going to depend on how the Covenant CG looks among other things. So far it just looks like it is just suffering from cliche elements more than anything that is actually bad.

It is being distributed through 15 minute chunks. So how much of this is coming from the entire thing, or whether this just represents the first 15 minute chunk who knows.

The whole thing is ending up barely 90 minutes so we will see how things go.

Even as a huge Halo fans I am neutral on the whole thing. I enjoyed the commercials and if they can expand on that without stepping into the incredibly cheesy zone than I consider that a win.

That is still one of the best game to film adaptations I've seen.

Yeah I would rather just watch Starship Troopers again. Pretty much the same thing from what I have seen form that trailer.

So is this filmed during the training of the next generation of Spartans or of the training of an important sect of the UNSC that were featured in on of the many offshoots of lore?

I love criticizing things, but this wasn't extremely bad or anything, like people said it was pretty "meh".

I mean if you want something laughably bad, check this out.

Its before the Covenant was known about while they where still at war with other humans. The people who are training are basically going for higher branches of the military and they have proabaly never heard of a Spartan. It is best explained during this video what they are doing there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-JkZPPyAWA
Cool.

I might just watch it to experience the soldier we usually saw fighting overpowered aliens fighting enemies that are more or less equal to them in ability.

I never liked scenarios where one side has a clear advantage over the other and curb-stomps them on a regular basis.

I actually do not really like the idea of the chief being in the movie, it seems rather cliche and like he was just put in there.

Anyway, I would have been completely satisfied with a Degrasi: Space West Point Edition. I was disappointed when shit started to hit the fan.

It could have had a character who was a tactical and strategic genius but was afraid of guns. A bit like Samwell Tarly from Game of Thrones.

EDIT: Even if this is a bad production imagine being one of the kids in it. Must be awsome, especially if you played the games.

Yeah, have to agree with most people here: not terrible, exactly, just absolutely bland and disinteresting.

Also, no mention of how they retconned the whole lost in space bit at the end of Halo 3.
What..? They didn't retcon anything. This takes place before Halo 1-3 and at the start of the Human-Covenant war when they were still fighting insurgences but then leads up to Halo 4.

What... Does seriously no one ever do research? Heck even our own escapist article a couple of days ago showed more clarification.

These are not Spartans, these are just marines. It shows them in training from before the war up to the war and then it ends with it in the year 2557 when the main character is now a leader aboard the UNSC infinity and find the transmission from the Forward Unto Dawn.
