I'm just curious as to when I can use 'gay' to mean 'happy' again. Because people like this are ruining that chance.

I certainly hope that it's a troll, although a troll going so far as to create a petition to get someone fired is certainly a bit disconcerting. If it's legitimate, then it's someone who reacted so fast that "knee-jerk" is an inadequate descriptor. Yeah, Anders comes on strong. Yeah, he gives you rivalry points for turning him down. He also happens to have an obsessive personality (normally) and occasionally has his obsession augmented by a spirit consumed with rage. He sees the world in black and white; if you aren't with him, you're against him. None of these personality traits have to do with him being homosexual or otherwise. They are a part of who he is, regardless of his sexual orientation, which can change whether Hawke is male or female. No matter what his orientation is determined to be, he reacts the same way. It's unjust to vilify someone for writing a character in a manner you don't like.

I would like to say though, is there anyone in Dragon Age 2 that's "Normal"?. Besides, Isabella and Merill are of the same sexuality as everyone else in game, and Merill is never almost never forward. It takes a while before she starts picking up on hints.
It's also worth noting, that just because Anders hits on you ONCE(As I recall) and you turn him down, it by no means that you can't become friends with him, I ended the game a heterosexual male Hawke, and Anders was my closest friend that I never romanced. It makes sense that Anders would be forward with anyone who is accepting of him, he's been alone for a great deal of his life. He's a mage, so a subset of people already don't trust him, he's an apostate, which means he has to keep a low profile and move around a lot, and he's an abomination, which means he doesn't even fit in with other mages. Is it really a wonder that he would be eager to find companionship?

I wonder if preoccupation with stereotyping Arcade Gannon is what happened in New Vegas. They were so concerned with making him a believable character they forgot to check if any of his quest triggers worked.
