Dear Gearbox,

Borderlands is great. Multiplayer support for Borderlands on the PC blows sweaty goats.
Consoles and PCs are not the same. It is not impossible to support multiple platforms, but it is nontrivial. Please fix your shit before yelling at Valve.

Love, Neuro

Let the companies ***** :I
If Valve wishes to have no involvement with the PS3 then let it be that way.
If it turns out this is bad business for Valve then so be it, their bloody fault.

The xbox 360 has three complete monolithic PPC cores. The single PPC core in the CELL processor spends a good deal of its processing power baby-sitting a bunch of crippled stream processing units. They do not have identical processor configurations.

You can use similar arguments to declare other developers of being in bed with microsoft. Gabe Newell didn't like Vista and regularly complains about delivering content to the Xbox 360. He even showed interest in producing content for the Wii. Your wild conspiracy theory is just that: a wild conspiracy theory.

I was talking about Game developers, not developers in general. I was most definitely not talking about the crowd-sourced hardware-vendor-funded mess that is GNU.

Valve is relatively small development studio; and they like to keep it that way. The don't have the resources that can be dedicated to the PS3.

Edit: they like to keep their development studio small because they are greedy; har har har

It can't be that hard to develop for the PS3. Maybe Valve are just lazy. Naughty Dog took the time to learn the ins and outs of the PS3 and they didn't seem to have a problem, and neither did Guerilla Games.

Maybe it's because Gabe realized that if they were to bring in a PS3 team, then the lunch queue would be longer?

Considering the enormous amount of development time that valve takes to release games one might call it a business decision that they do not develop games for a system they find a pain in the butt to program for. They could start developing the latest and greatest thing for the PS3 right now but by the time it was released the PS5 would be hitting the shelves and flying up our nostrils.

I dunno, while I'd love for a bit more love between Valve and Sony, it would still be a love hate relationship...

I have a PC and I love Steam, but my PC can only go for so far and my PS3 will always remain at tip top shape, so I don;t know where to stand.

As a 360 owner I don't play valve games because their games are just bad PC ports. On the 360 they just seem unfinished. Hence no L4D(2), orange box etc. for me.

I prefer to play the genuine multiplatform releases and not a poor mans version of another systems game.

Both companies are fanboys.

No point in arguing or trying to make a point

To be fair, I do think Valve's shunning of the PS3 to be a bit childish. I always thought Valve were up to challenges, but when it comes to the PS3: "Oh no! It's too hard!". I mean, really? It's not like Valve don't have the resources to at least learn how to make PS3 games.

Then again, I guess it's probably for the best that Valve stick to what they know and carry on making awesome games I guess. It's not like Pitchford can really talk, I've heard bad things about the different versions of Borderlands.

The PS3 WAS a waste of time last year.
espically for a company like valve.

It is had to program for, and costs extra funds and resources, and the FPS crowd isn't very good on PS3 (at the time)

That's hardly fanboyish, it was the truth.

You usually see this kind of bashing as a result of several trolls on a forum, but to see a president of a games developer speak like that is flat out awesome.

I've said this a million times and I'll say it again. If you are playing a valve game on anything other than a PC you are doing it wrong. This is especially obvious when you look to the differences between the 360 and PC version of TF2(as Pitchford stated).

I think the sooner that Valve admits that they are a strictly PC developer, the better.

Nintendo doesn't develop games for Steam, 360, or PS3.
Microsoft doesn't develop games for Steam, Wii, or PS3.
Sony doesn't develop games for Steam, Wii, or 360.
Why is Valve obligated to develop games for anything other than Steam? Be happy with what you get.

Man, I thought those two companies used to be good friends?

What the HELL is up with Randy waging war now?

Did Gabe sleep with his wife or something? Jealousy of there successes? IDK, it's kinda odd.
I think it's probably jealousy. Gearbox won the name that both devs wanted, but Valve became significantly more successful.

Anyway, I don't get what Pitchford's going on about. Devs are alowed to do exclusives, and Valve has some really solid reasons not to develop for the PS3. And with Steam, as Pitchford himself has mentioned, they don't really need to earn the extra buck.

Fix the multiplayer for borderlands on the pc before criticizing Valve, screwing over all the pc gamers in such a degree is no better than what valve did whit the ps3.
You know, I would agree with you if I had ever had a problem with Borderlands on the PC... but so far it is the >least< buggy game I've played in years. Comparing this to L4D, which still has a plethora of the same bugs that have existed since launch and... well, I think Pitchford is on to something here.

Valve's knocking of the PS3 has always been fanboyish and not developing on the platform is childish. "It's a waste of time." Yeah, I'm sure it is. I think Naughty Dog and Insomniac agree with those sentiments too, what with the amazing games they make on the waste of time.

The bottom line is that Valve has been doing a lot of things very poorly over the last year and a half and is functioning similarly to how EA functioned before Mirrors Edge/Dead Space. You don't release bug filled games, barely patch the same game, and then announce the sequel for it not even a year after it's been released and then release what you announced 6 months later.

Oh wait, EA does that with Madden.
have u tried playing borderlands online on the pc.....didnt think so also the game has serious performence issues considering my pc can play bioshock at 60fps + on full specs why does this game lag out (30fps-)considering bioshock is more detailed thats quite awful, crysis runs like BL on my pc both on full which makes no sense to me.also valve support PC gamers more than 360 but they can port to 360 because theyre similar in nature ps3 is different in nature and would require alot of money too port too

This sums it up better than I ever could.
I'm with you both on this one.

What stupidity. No need to attack a company cos you f'ed up, fled the coop and then Valve got successful.

Jealous douchebag.....
