Pretty exciting stuff!

I'm not too pleased that TrueSkill is sticking around "under the hood", but I guess I'll take what I can get at this point.

New achievements will be locked to the new map pack, in part, which is yet another attempt to move DLC through subterfuge. These achievements will be tied to your 'level', which increases/decreases based on personal performance in ranked games.

Thoughts?

Sounds good! Quitters are my #1 annoyance in GoW2, so I'm very happy to see that that issue will be fixed (bigger penalties for leaving prematurely, and bots to replace quitters). I'm very much looking forward to the 24th! (less so to the 31st)

so...the bots are good news, if they are set to Insane by default.
Yeah, even on Insane they are... not very insane, from what I've seen in Private matches. Getting smoked by a bot is grounds for mockery.

I agree completely re: quitters. Nothing worse than a tied up game of Annex that suddenly turns into a rout when a teammate bails out just before the final round. It's pretty difficult to win team-based games (Annex, King, Submission) shorthanded.

And I loathe the people who quit out 10 seconds before a match ends, just because they don't want to take a loss on their record.

Well, lets keep our allies as strong as we can, even if that is only slightly threatening at best.

Hmm, maybe I should have been a little less hasty in selling my copy? Because they're fixing some of the issues I had major problems with.

Now they just need to crack down on the lag-switchers and host advantage.

Sure, a bot is better than nothing. Even if they suck, they'll still attract attention and gunfire that would ordinarily be aimed at YOU.

I wonder if the XP system will result in a large resurgence of people playing Gears 2... nothing like a new method of electronic scrutiny and judgment to bring people running back for more.

Well, I play mostly Elimination gametypes, and there it's a big problem too. If someone quits (and they do this for the most ridiculous reasons, such as: the gametype/map they voted for didn't win, they lost a round, or even simply got fragged), it's 5 on 4 and that means the other team is suddenly 25% bigger. And very often the extra guy they have will be the last one standing and makes all the difference. And to make matters worse, often someone quitting will prompt someone else to leave too, and then suddenly it's 5 on 3 which is in almost all cases certain defeat. Especially annoying when you have to play four more rounds that way.
Essentially, one person quitting ruins it for nine others, but noone seems to care about that. I can honestly say that I play more games where someone leaves than games which end with ten players. Can't wait for the 24th.
