I don't see why people complain about it. I think it's a shitty weapon.

Usually when someone comes at me with one, I dodge the shot, then beat them to death.

The ranged weapons are a lot more powerful in Gears 3 than the earlier titles. I usually get more kills with my Lancer than my Gnasher.

People seem to forget that there are guns other than shotguns. Combine that with a more powerful gun that encourages the roll-shoot-reload strategy that these guys already use, and the sawn-off is the only weapon in the game.

What do you think? Do you feel the gun is balanced or is it over powered and cheap? Did this gun ruin the multiplayer or not?
It's not overpowered. I've seen more people get one-shotted by the gnasher than anything else, as the gnasher is just as deadly at the same range as the sawed-off, with the added bonus of getting an extra shot in should the first miss.

Ive not played Gears3 but the shotgun has always been overpowered in Gears. Thats why its the only starting weapon most people use. Having said that everyone has one so its not like its unfair.

Yeah I agree. I started off using the gnasher when I got the game simply because I was more familiar with it from previous Gears. After awhile I started to get pissed when I'd be killed by the SO, so I decided to use it myself. I went up to 2000 kills using it and found although effective it has extreme limitations. I have since switched back to the gnasher and seem to do better with it due to it being more versatile.

Yea, I'm glad the rifles are actually useful in Gears 3. I found the lancer or hammerburst in Gears 1 and 2 to be about as effective as a water gun. Now I love the retro lancer and usually have it out in most situations.

It's not that bad if you know how to counter it (aka stay the hell away from it and destroy with lancer/retro/hammerburst), but it's definately more idiot proof than the Gnasher. Gnasher actually requires a bit of aiming, timing, and evasion tactics to beat another gnasher user in a fight.

Sawed off? You get close and get them within your field of view and they're instantly tiny bits and pieces. Now that's not exactly easy depending on who you're playing... but when you can whirl around and end someone who was sneaking up on you before you can even see and register what you're aiming at (I've done it. weeeeee high sensitivity), that's where it gets it's "noobs onry" label.

Personally I use both. For playing aggressive the Gnasher will likely do better. Sawed off is a defensive tool. You can't rush a guy camping a corner with a sawed off, he'll win everytime (unless you've gotten really good at baiting and he fucks it up.)

Same here. I won't pursue people when I have the SO, I will only use it when I notice that somebody is getting a bit too close for comfort.

Oi, it's a gun that is in the game so it isn't cheap.
I will admit it is annoying to get killed by it 7 times in one match of TDM but I usually get 7+ kills with it myself.

Off Topic: I can see I'm not the only one who clicked on the red button.
Does anyone here know how long you have to look at bieber's face before you can change your avatar back to something less embarissing?
The red button makes everyone's avatar look like beiber to you. Only you. It doesn't just change your avatar. And it lasts 24 hours, I think.

On Topic: I use the Gnasher and Hammerburst. I think some of the "vets" need to grow up and get used to it. Epic said it's here to stay and will not be tweaked. Just learn to counter it. I personally keep it at range with the Hammerburst. Never charge at someone holding that thing.

It bugs me that it takes no skill to use. And how it takes up the entire screen. But it's not game-breaking. It can be countered. I get into very few shotgun battles. My combat style is keeping distance, only whipping out the old Gnasher when they come in and I can't escape. Nullifies all shotgun woes.

It has next to no range and takes forever to reload. But it's also reliable when within range, and I'm decent enough at using the terrain as cover to get into that range.

That's why I prefer it over the gnasher.

I like the part at 2:09.

My own opinion on the sawed off aside, it's broken. You don't even need to be looking at the enemy and you'll get a kill, plus it can gib at a further range than the gnasher.

GoW multiplayer to me always seemed to involve a load of chest high walls in a cramped environment
That is a breeding pool for shotgun users
the same way poor team balancing and a very steep perk reward system for COD and to a point WoW both encourage greifing
I love you for this.

I can tolerate Space Marine's MP because you can at least copy the loadout of the guy that killed you and try to use it on others...You cant play CoDBO now unless you owned it since day one or like being raped by the level Prestige 15 guy w/ all Pro perks and BiS weapons and mods

I love it. One shotting Boomers and Grinders and Maulers. You have no idea how many times the Sawed Off has let me save people's asses in Horde.

>guh-nasher

Aside from his atrocious pronunciation, all I hear is a neckbeard whining. One timely dive backwards makes the sawed-off useless, as does a little aim with the Lancer. If you get snuck up on with the sawed off, you're likely to have died to a gnasher as well.

What's you point?

It only has one shot before reload, takes forever to reload and has next to no range.

It only makes sense that it would have a very wide spread. I use the SO in situations where I know I'm going to be within lethal range, it makes me a close range threat. Everything else is Lancer fodder.
