While I myself won't get a tattoo. (mostly because it's a sin) If I were going to get one it would be the Gears of War symbol.
...wha? It's sinful to get a tattoo but perfectly fine to play a game like Gears of War?
The old testament (and Torah) specifically says not to 'make cuttings into the flesh' or 'mark your flesh for the dead' i believe it's in Leviticus somewhere.

The bible is largely non-specific on video games and guns.

The spirit of it is more to the effect of 'God made your body, don't defile it.'
A good way to explain is:
The tattoo artist isn't the best artist ever. Not even in the top million, probably.
God is.

Of course, if you believe that stuff...

Anyway, a couple geeky tats that I've thought of getting -

Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke riding on Yakul (his red elk) on one arm, and San riding a wolf on the other
I also have plans to get a Mononoke tattoo. Most likely it will be the Spirit of the Forest (plants at foot and all) with the little kodama and trees around it. It might take up as much as half my back, or it may be an entire forearm.

My tattoos I have right now aren't that nerdy but I guess they could fit into that vein; they are as follows:
-A comet called Ishkoodah, from a book called "Hiawatha's childhood", 'bove Gandalf.
-Max riding atop the bull-like wild thing from Where the Wild things are.
-A picture by the artist Nicholas Di Genova.

The other geek tattoo i want done (though im not sure where, possibly inside of lower left arm though i hear that hurts like a ***** and somewhere else) is a Super-Mario Mushroom.
Inner forearm is one of the least painful places to get a tattoo. I know.

I've got a mate who has a Power Mushroom (NES style, albeit non-coloured) on his wrist and a Wind Waker Link on his upper arm.

I don't have any tattoos, but if I were to get one, I'd get the Aperture Science logo on my right shoulder.

I plan on getting incredibly drunk one evening, and seeing what I wake up with. Puts more of a 'luck of the draw' element into it

I want a tattoo of Mario in his Raccoon-flight suit :D
just as a fun-fact...

It's called the tanuki suit (pronounced tan-oo-kee)

It's named for the Japanese raccoon.
No, Tanuki aren't raccoons. They're actually much more closely related to dogs. English-speaking countries translate it into raccoon because they're an animal only found in Japan, and vaguely resemble raccoons.

Anywho, I'm not into tattoos, mainly because it's taboo in Japan (as the yakuza are famous for them), and I plan to be going there a lot.

I plan on painting/modding a motorcycle to either a chocobo or Okami theme, however. Probably the latter.

I agree with Erana. I'd just be scared that something happened in my life that meant that I hated games, or otherwise the game/console memorabilia that I'd hate the tattoo for life. Another issue that I have is a lot of people I know who have tattoos have them in areas so that they appear to be flaunting it.

If I had to get one then it'd be Kira on my upper arm.

Or if I felt the need to show it off constantly then I'd get the Bioshock links on my wrist.

Oh, I've just remembered. My friend has the Hitman logo on his upper arm.

If I were to get a tattoo, I'd try to make it appealing to non-gamers as well. Something like the Quake logo. Gamers will recognize it, but non-gamers will simply see a cool tribal thing.

I'm going to do one game-related. A Triforce, to always remind me of the strength, wisdom and courage I possess deep inside. Can't help but admire those that do get game-related tattoos that cover their entire back or even more. ^__^

Hey, that's a great idea! The logo is awesome too.

must you be that way; I was simply using a form of language that would be most widely understood.

If I had said "dog" people would have thought of household canines.

If I had said "Japanese raccoon-dog" most people wouldn't have understood the reason for using that term. Please don't respond, I don't want this to become a pointless argument.

1) Yes I must be that way, being the linguistic purist that I am.

2) The easier and more practical thing to do would be to actually call it a tanuki, maybe explaining that it's raccoon-esque.

3) No. I'm responding anyway, if only to annoy you seeing as you're short-tempered enough to get into a fuss over a simple semantic correction.

Seriously, calm down. "No, they're not raccoons" isn't reason enough to get all snippy with me.

I'd have the dagger of time Tattooed (sp?) on my shoulder. Partly because Sands of Time is my faviourite game of all time, but mostly because if anyone asked I could just say "its a cool dagger" and I could pass it off as something not so geeky.

I'm thinking of getting a tattoo (somewhere I can't see it, so people think its cool, right up until I go wrinkly and then it won't matter) but I don't think I'd want a gaming one. You never know, I might grow up one day and get out of this sea of geeky crap.
