I'm going to go straight ahead and assume that everyone reading this post is a geek (unless your lost on the way to porn or bebo). Oviously, there are plenty of hobbies and activitys that surround us nerds i.e. Comic Books, Video Games, RPGs ect. And theres also a lot of things that geeks do that issolate us from the normal people.

But anyway, what is main geeky thing you hate? What is the part of our culture that really gets under your skin?

One for me has to be something that irriated me for a few years at my school. I'd be talking to a few of my "normal" friends in the morning and a friend of mine called Jake would come over out of the blue and start talking about his adventures the night before in Azaroth and the World of Warcraft. It was pritty fucking embarrasing, and I was good mates with usually so I couldn't really tell him to piss off.

Another thing that annoys the hell out of me is people correcting my gramma and spelling on forums. Im dislexic and often have to edit my post 3 or 4 times before they make them perfect so its pritty embarrasing when someone calls you out on it.

Yeah, people going on about their warcraft escapades are rather tedious, and I'm pretty good at the whole spelling and grammar lark but grammar Nazis still really annoy me.

I can't think of anything else at the moment really. You summed it up.

Easy, people using forum abbreviations in real world speech.

I refuse to acknowledge anyone who uses terms like 'lol', 'imo', 'bork' etc when talking. Abbreviations are for text, until you can visualise your speech for the rest of us use real words.

I'm going to extend "warcraft escapades" to "nerd escapades in general." Nobody wants to hear about anything "cool" that you did in any video game, RPG, strategy game, or whatever. Arguments over "canon" are also incredibly painful.

Also: RTS games.

I hate the geek stereotype that says anyone who likes computers or talks about gaming too much is obviously a nerd and look like this.

i don't like it when people who don't like games/comics/geeky stuff look down on you for liking it.

To be fair, I don't think most people look down on you for liking geeky stuff as they do for being associated with what is, let's face it, a pretty stupid culture.

People think I automatically have no life for enjoying warhammer! And thinking mumorpugrs are really anti-social.

Oddly enough, I feel the same way about conversations about sports and do my best to remove myself from such conversations as quick as possible. After all -no-one- wants to hear about anything "cool" that you did in any sporting activity /sarcasm.

On a more serious note. Any answers to that nature can only encompass:

X = Stuff you find interesting. Or interesting to hear about.
Y = Stuff you don't find interesting. Or interesting to hear about.

∴ Y = Stuff I hate.

Any attempts to justify such 'hate' will, in general, fall flat. It would be like me saying that all football fans are loud drunken, violent, idiots. Which, is of course not true, even if those people are the only one's I've ever encountered associated with the sport. After all loud idiots are -everywhere- and certainly not limited to one activity over another.

I hate the way the super geeks in the comics store stop their warhammer game and stare when I enter the store. Am I the only woman who gets this reaction? Maybe it's just that one store. Either way it's creepy.

I don't get the whole fascination surrounding MMORPG's, and so hearing about them is pretty irritating.
Online shorthand (like 'lol' or whatever) being used in actual conversation.
And the assumpion that because I'm into gaming, I don't have any other interest in my life (I got that one in college).

Just your store. Or they just realised what that mythical beast the 'woman' looks like. My nearest comic store's run by a lady, so none of that here.

Don't worry, they do that to dudes too. One reason I stopped playing warhammer. The people at the shops are creepy.

Out in the real world most of the reactions I get when people learn I like anime and video games come in two flavors: disdain or "let me show you my pokemon." Most of my fellow anime fans tend to assume I'm a hater simply because I find cosplay to be a sad and depressing affair. I remember reading an online article about how some cosplayers are ruining American anime fandom, and 2 years later found out that the president of my college anime club was the cosplayer in question.
