Geez am I the only one who managed to find a decent place to play Warhammer40k at? Unless of course all of this hate is directed at the fantasy version but still its odd. The place I go to usually everyone is pretty normal. There are only a few people who get on my nerves and generally its just a bunch of random non competitive games.

Ah well whatever. I talk about geeky stuff to my friends if I want to and if any one ever calls me out on it then what the heck were they eavesdropping for?!!

Look if your embarrassed about your own hobby like its some sort of secret ritual then I don't think your enjoying it. Yes I agree WoW is annoying but generally I dont know anyone who actually likes it so maybe I'm missing something.

I guess Role-Playing Board games, I just can't get into it to save my life and the RPG video game genre is one of my favorites.
You have no imagination, and your childhood must have been sad.
Thanks for bringing this up. Quiet a lot of my geek friends who are really shy in person become real arseholes on the internet and playing online games. Having a keyboard or a controller in front of them makes them feel safe, so they take there chance to piss people off.

One for me has to be something that irriated me for a few years at my school. I'd be talking to a few of my "normal" friends in the morning and a friend of mine called Jake would come over out of the blue and start talking about his adventures the night before in Azaroth and the World of Warcraft. It was pritty fucking embarrasing, and I was good mates with usually so I couldn't really tell him to piss off.
I second that.
I dislike most anime, though. Oh, and DDR (not sure if that counts.)

I hate fanboys! Those people who dare you to say a game, other than the one the like is good to just to tell you how good the game they like is better than your favorite.

Folks who argue about canon annoy the crap out of me.
Leet speak is a horrible thing that needs to die.
I always feel extremely out of place when people start talking about hardware specs. I can understand them, but once a conversation starts including more nmbers than letters, I start trying to bail myself out.
And fanboy flame wars. Seriously. You like your thing, they like their thing, NOW SHUT THE HELL UP!

Hey!, how did you know what I looked like?!? No, but seriously its annoying. There are people that go to my school that look like that... And to reinforce the stereotype, most are geeks... my school is about as stereotypical as you can get...
I take it you've got a lot of Wiggas too?

Yeah, put me down as not understanding CCGs like Magic, tabletop war games, anime, despite having watched Akira and Ghost in the Shell, both of which are supposed to turn the average Quaker into a slavering pokemon fan. (Um Quaker as in 19th century, not as in 'plays quake').

Having said that, I once played a Dragonball Z game on the SNES, that's probably enough to make a hyper japanese 10 year old boy switch off.

Then beat me with the hypocrisy stick , because I love the Streetfighter movie (not the Van Damme one, heh).

I do love WOW tho, too, so more ammo for you lot.

I like my PCs, but I certainly don't go around talking about RAM and polygon cycles.

That I know how to help with tech problems, also that I want to talk to fellow geeks/nerd just because we have one thing in common really annoys me.

Short hand being spoken, there's no need, my sister uses it, she's not even a geek

Elitism amongst gamers

carrying on about their modded game, I really don't care how you've made a good game better

L.A.Z.E.R, this isn't a spelling thing as such, but that pisses me right off, L.A.S.E.R is a acronym "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation".......argh!

10^9 is not a billion and 10^12 is not a trillion

Sulphur doesn't have a "f"

Sorry if those last few seem to be aimed at America I'm a science and math student and constantly being told by a few lectures otherwise it does my nut, I'm a proud Englishman

The jokes that get repeated so often they're no longer amusing... and then they get repeated a billion times more after that.

Monty Python, Portal, and Red Dwarf fans... I'm looking your way.

It seems ironic that you'd get bothered about the spelling of sulfur, but you can't be bothered to punctuate correctly. Just selectively proud, then?

Seriously, all you English-types who get all bothered that someone else does it differently from you? Get a life. You aren't the world anymore. The empire is gone. It's time to find a new hobby (I mean, other than literally hounding your celebrities to death).

All Alan Moore's comics. Single exception: Watchmen. I'm all for deconstructions in comic form, but... ugh, I find Moore annoying.

Oh, and manga. Jesus. The only manga I ever really enjoyed with Neon Genesis Evangelion, mostly because I adore mindfuckery in media. But in high school, I got really sick of people assuming girl geek = shojo manga lover. Nothing bugs me more that that sparkle-filled crap.

Overgeneralizations.

Oh, and the fact that society seems to think that all geeks play WoW and have 20 lvl. 70 characters in all classes with epic flying mounts, lest they not be "true" geeks... I seriously feel like smacking my friend sometimes with how much he tries to "convert" me to WoW-dom.
