I hope everyone will have the common courtesy to hide their spoilers.
Anyway, I didn't mind the ending to Borderlands.
So, any endings that everyone hates but you dig? Like, I dunno, Ghost & Goblins? Tetris? And more importantly, of course: why?
NOTE: the forum pooped and I needed like four million attempts to post this thread, and in the meantime, a similar thread, but only about Mass Effect 3, had been created, so this is about other games. I'd prefer it if the whole Bioware-thing didn't find its way in here. There's enough of that already.

It gets a lot of flak for kinda farting in people's face with the whole treasure thing, but that was the point, wasn't it? The whole thing's more about the journey than the destination. This Guardian Angel (whom I suspected from the start to be some kind of AI) only wants you at the Vault so you can kill the Destroyer, who tries to come out every 200 years to fuck everyone's shit up. That's the only thing that's in the Vault. This Guardian Angel turns out to be a satellite with a designation number that translates to "Angel" in 1337-speek. She actually apologizes to you for leading you on (did everyone miss this?) and says Tannis will give you a big wad of cash for the Vault Key, which she does.
Yeah, it wasn't what people expected, but it actually made more sense and was far more intriguing than a big stupid pirate treasure/dragon hoard.
It wasn't a perfect ending by any means.
- Boss was a pushover.
- It was a bit short and sudden, especially compared to the time it takes you to get there.
- Not much explanation is given about the nature and origin of the Destroyer or the Angel. I hope we get some more on that in the sequel.
- The Claptrap Ninja thing was kinda stupid, but hey.
But I liked it. It had a cool vibe. I finished the end boss quite easily with my awesome weapons, why would I bawl over not getting any even better ones? The guns are the means.
Also, the ending credits had a cool song. I like that. (*shudders at the memory of DA's 30 Seconds To Mars*)
