Every twenty or so years a new generation comes up, and has a new name, like the Baby Boomers, the G.I. Generation or Generation X, based on their generations general actions. There is some dispute over what the titles should be. The next generation (2000 onward) has holding name of the Millenials. This isn't permanent because they, of course, won't center their actions around the millennium.

My question to youze guyz is, what do you think the generation will be named?

I think it will be the Nostalgia Generation. There aren't enough new stories to make movies and media out of (we've had this problem for hundreds, if not thousands of years), so movies will just remake old ones, as already seen.

Well I thought Generation Z was pretty appropriate, considering the amount of zombies and how we've reached the uncreative singularity but Nostalgia Generation sounds good too.

Generation X-Box, as much as it will upset the fanboys.
It sums up our love of technology.

The Millennium Generation.
It may appear that we are far less glorious than that sounds.

Generation Z: it fits with X&Y pattern we have going.

Generation I + other variations: I have heard this one and I don't like it. It stereotypes everyone in that age group. Which is unfair.

They seem to be the major two out there.

I thought we were already dubbed "generation X-box" or something to that affect? Which I completely agree with.

When you say the newest generation do you mean those who are just reaching adulthood or those born after 2000?

If you're talking about those who are just reaching adulthood (that's mine!), then I think the already mentioned Generation I is a pretty good one. We do tend to be focusing more upon ourselves recently.

The Digital Generation (or something along those lines) also seems pretty good. I mean with stuff like cell phones, texting, Facebook, Twitter, social networks (like the Escapist here) this generation has turned the internet into an important part of our collective social life. We may not be the only one that does this, but so far we're the first to do anything like it.

Generation Entitled little twerps.

Wait....that applies to Gen Y also. Man, I'm bad at this.

I always thought that the Gen X and Y names were a bit of a copout. I mean, how do you go from a great descriptive name like BabyBoomers to X?

I think that we already have an official name, don't we?

It's something like "The Social Networking Generation" because we're the ones that made Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, all that stuff mainstream.

At least that's what I've heard.
