Genndy Tartakovsky is my favorite cartoonist of all time.

This man defined my childhood cartoons growing up, he is Russia's gift to Western Animation. And that is saying something because he had steady competitors even within Cartoon Network, Ed, Edd, n Eddy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, etc. but these shows just edges them out.

And of course Samurai Jack. Which is finally getting a new season 5.

There was also this one, Sym-Bionic Titan, which still makes me sad to this day that it got cancelled on its first season:

Now that Genndy is back in the buisness it seems, makes me wonder what he is gonna do after Samurai Jack Season 5?

Okay. My favorite cartoonist of all time is Hayao Miyazaki. Seeing as everyone has moved onto digital animation and CG for feature films and the rest is low budget TV stuff, he will never be surpassed.

I did love Dexter's Lab when I was younger, though. Haven't watched it in over a decade.
The only thing that's worth watching in Dexter's Lab is the first 2 seasons and the Ego Trip movie, it went completely downhill by the third season with the complete change of art style and production crew.

Almost no one that worked on Season 1 and 2 worked on Season 3 and 4.

I know. They're two very different shows. I didn't like the changes either. It didn't even have the same voices.
At the very least it died a peaceful death when it got bad, Unlike other shows (Looks at Simpsons, Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents)

Tex Avery, no competition in my mind.

I can watch his work TODAY and still laugh every time.
And it still makes me laugh to, Chuck Jones Hanna/Barbera, Tex Avery, Max Fleischer, and classical Disney animators whose names I don't know at the moment are forever legends.

For the most part, but some of them are still out there. Right now Sylvain Chomet (The Triplets of Belleville and The Illusionist) is working on a new feature film, Henry Selick is working on a movie called Wendell and Wild, both directors of The Secret of Kells are working on two separate movies, etc. And there's a couple other recent ones as well, like The Tale of Princess Kaguya and Anomalisa.

Edit: Also, The Red Turle. Haven't seen it yet but it seems to be really good.

I'm also a fan of his. OP did you watch the Hotel Transyvania movies too? Becuase he was head of the creative team on those aka he was the director.
The animation was far and way the best part of those movies.

Edit:
Also he's been working on a personal project which suspect will be part of what he'll do after season 5 of samurai jack is over. The project is a movie called Can you Imagine?

Errr it was Craig McCracken who made the Power Puff Girls not Genndy however he was the Animation director & Cinematographer for the PPG movie.

OP- Yeah Genndy Tarkovsky is one of my favourite and I too found it shame that Sym-Bionic Titan was cancell especially it suffer the worse fate of them all, cliff hanger! Heck I even bought Hotel Transylvania 1 and 2 as a sign of support. While I did loved the cartoony cgi but the story was a little bit weak.

Craig McCracken is also another favourite of my for Dexter Lab, Power Puff Girl, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (my favourite series) and Wander Over Yonder (well ok my least favourite but I appriacated what he was aiming for).

If only Hotel Transilvania had a better charcater to go out with Dracula's daughter than this buffoon ginger. Than it would have been a better movie

Basically Craig is Powerpuff Girl's Daddy, but Genndy was the Mom.

Did you ever watch the Star Wars Clone Wars 2003 Mini Seires?

Genndy did the Star Wars Prequals better than the actual prequals.

I'm surprised you like Tartaovsky so much because you seem to hate everything that's bright and colorful and cartoony.

I had a childhood you know. But though I cherish the cartoons I did grew up with and would still watch them, I am not gonna go out of my way to watch Kids Cartoon movies in this day and age now. Especially when these new movies feels like regurgitations what I already seen as a kid.

I watch it way back when it was still new. I just decided to watch the whole thing, though I'm not sure if I'll finish it. One and half minutes in and already Yoda is on horseback wielding a lightsaber (which was always a mistake) and Obi-Wan and Anakin drop five stories from a transport. Bullshit.
Yoda in this used the power of the force to bring down whole ships without the use of a lightsabre.

Mace Windu did not need it aswell.
