For me it has to be JRPG's.
From Final Fantasy and it's awful cutesy animé stylings to the Nippon Ichi style, which admittedly are beautifully rendered. I just cannot get into the random battles, especially FFXII which pissed me off no end, and the generally god awful childish Americanised voice work. Today I picked up Eternal Sonata which seems more of the same but is a lot better with the Japanese vocals and I will keep at this one because the story actually seems quite intriguing if nothing else about it is. We shall see.
I love the idea of these games more than the actual execution of the games.
My one exception to the rule is Dragon Quest: JotCK, which has some great voice work and a stunning art style, but once it stopped holding my hand it and left you to it I kind of got lost and don't know where to go...
