Genres You Just CANNOT Get Into...

I'm fairly open to most genres, with the exception of Real Time Strategy. I don't know why, but I can never really get into them. The closet I got to an RTS game was Overlord 2 and Pikmin (if you can count those as a very basic RTS). It's probably because my soft Nintendo brain cannot comprehend building tanks/turrets/generators whilst also managing your infantry to gear up for a pre-emptive strike, all the while knowing that the enemy are ready to destroy you the moment you give them a dodgy look.

All I can think off is sport games. I dont really like them that much, and I still play them sometimes.
I guess I like all genres.

RTS games, the one genre I've never even given a shot. My mate says don't knock it til you try it etc. but judging from gameplay footage and watching other people play them, they just look frighteningly dull. Oh, and The Sims as well. I love WRPGs and JRPGs, spending hours of my life levelling up my character/team is something I actually fnd fun, but to invest that time in a virtual family... no. Although I do like Harvest Moon which I guess, in some ways, is kinda similar to The Sims

Sports games. If I really wanted to play sports then I'd go outside and play them. Most people that play them are already people that aren't big gamers anyways.

Plus, I can't justify paying $60 for a game that's the same as last year's version except for a new roster and shinier graphics. I've bought one sports game in my life, NFL Gameday 98 and neither I nor my brother (a big sports fan) could find a reason to justify a sports game purchase since then.

RTS.

Harvest your recorces so you can purchase an upgrade fro the power plant/ mobile base thing so your troops can take cover/make coffee/ dance/ expload, which gives you a moral penalty that causes your menue to glow a bright green and.......

(20 mins later)

I hope we were able to help you in this tutorial for "New to the RTS genre"........

Way to complicated for me. I have tried other "Simple" RtS's but I am aparently the worst millatery mind to ever live. My only semi good thing I did in an rts was in red alert 3 where I destroyed a reactor, breaking open teir wall....And killing my forces waiting nearby with orders to get in through said wall.

Idk, I've always loved roleplaying and strategy, but realistic racing and sandbox games don't do it for me.

F2P MMOs really annoy me. I complete a four hour download, just to be dissappointed with blandness. There are exceptions, like Drift City and S4, but I haven't played a good F2P MMORPG yet...

Dawn of War 2 might break the mold for you. The campaign is more of an action RPG.

EDIT: I also have a lothing for the Sims.

Hack & Slash and most Fighter games.

This means I dislike God of War, Street Fighter, Prototype, Infamous, and will probably dislike the gameplay for Brutal Legend. Haha, take that!

Also, a part of me doesn't even include sports games in the actual video game pool. So there's another genre I can't get into, I guess.
Erm...infamous is a Sandbox 3rd person shooter. Doesn't fit in that genre at all.

I'd say RTS games mostly. The last one I played fully and enjoyed was Cannon Fodder on the Amiga. The serious stuff like C&C just don't do it for me.

I used to like SF2/MK back in the SNES days, but now I just can't be bothered to learn all these combos. I tried SF4 in hope that it'd revive the thrill of fighting, but it didn't, it just made my thumbs hurt.

Almost forgot about Horror games like Resident Evil >.> I scare easily :(

I look at brutal legend gameplay more like zelda gameplay,
especially when it comes to playing music

Football.

I've never been able to have even an inkling of something even mistakable for fun while attempting to play one.

MMOs.

I could go on for hours about the problems I have with them, but I'll just say that the only MMO I ever kind of liked was Guild Wars, though I am looking forward to The Secret World.

Western RPGs (except maybe Fable and Jade Empire).

Look, Dungeons and Dragons/d20 is a good rule-set, I'm glad we're all in agreement about that, but does every fantasy game have to follow the Tolkien/D&D mold?

Can't quite pass judgment on the genre, but World In Conflict left a bad impression of RTS's on me. I just found it boring, which is unfortunate since I generally find the Cold War interesting.

Also, sports games. I just don't get the point.

Ha! I KNEW I wasn't crazy for not liking sports games! All of my cousins only seem to play sports games, and sometimes shooters.
(I think it might be another black thing)
I HATE dating sims & dressup games. I remember watching this 1 animé where the main character was liked playing dating sims and I listened to her talking about "why they're fun" wondering if the dialogue could sway opinion....
It didn't.
I'm not too fond of the sims either (it's so friggin creepy). I can get into RTS's but its just so hard to do.

OT: I had no idea so many people disliked JRPG's! Back when I was 12, Kingdom Hearts II was my favourite game! But I think I grew out of it.
