You know what I mean, that certain type of game that you really enjoy playing, but, no matter how much you play, you are never any good at. For me, its RTS's. I own quite a few, but I can never beat the campaign or get anywhere online.

So, what about you guys?

By the way, I did a search, but I didn't find anything recent on the same topic.

I'm right there with you on RTS's. I'm a huge fan of the Command and Conquer games, especially the older ones, but I'm just flat out terrible at them. RTS's are all about micromanagement and speed. I'm decent with the micro, but speed is where I get left behind. For some reason trying to go as fast as I can in an RTS makes my head spin and I feel exhausted by the end of a match, hence why I never play them online anymore.

Console FPS's would be another one. I'm pretty good and FPS games in general on the PC. I'm usually within the top 3 after a match is over at whatever game I'm playing, but consoles are a different matter. Controls for shooters are just so much clunkier on consoles than on PC, and my skill takes a big hit because of it.

I love Football Manager games. However unless I'm managing a team like Barcelona(i.e great players and plenty of money) I will often end up getting sacked before I've completed 1 season

Exact same thing here, that's why I only use my patented steamroller technique...

But seriously every time I go online I get OWNED...

Overlord. Loved being evil but I couldn't properly stratagize in that game which always led to huge losses of my minions.

Loved that game to death though

I love building up huge armies in RTS's, but that never seems to work online, and I think that's why I can never do well; I can't adapt from offline to online. I can win a skirmish against the computer (on easy...ahem) but as soon as I go online, I get shredded.

I'm also inept at RTS', also i've fallen behind in online FPS', it seems like if you don't play everyday you find yourself at a disadvantage.

I like hack-n-slash, but totally suck at it. Haven't got the patience to remember combos and I don't like dodging or blocking. I usually end up playing such games on easy. I just like the experience, without the need to test my skills.

I'm the total opposite. Do crap when at big teams, do wondrous things when at small teams.

Also, me and RTSes get along horribly but I love playing them. Basically, any strategy games ever made.

RTS.
I like tactical games, but I like going in my own pace.
That's why I suck at real time tactics while I'm awesome at turn-based tactics.

FPS multiplayer. After finally getting my 360 fixed to be able to go live, I've been playing the crap out of most of my games with multiplayer, but I'm just no good. I've been getting pretty awesome with Left 4 Dead 2, but that seems to be it. I just can't aim. :( I'm well aware that that is the case, and that just makes me wonder, why/how the hell I can rock L4D. o_O

I'm awesome at TBS, mainy because, as you say, I can go at my own pace and won't get rushed by my enemy before I can establish a strong base. Advance Wars and Civilization are much easier for me than C&C or Starcraft.

I suck at RTS's, but I hate them so I guess it doesn't count. I'd probably have to say 4X strategy games. I loved the epic battles you could have in Sins of a Solar Empire, but I usually lost because I suck.

Survival Horror. I love to watch, and even to play some times, but unless it's the newer stuff, I normally get killed pretty quick.
