I'm really sick of this trope because the edit literally did nothing to change the character of Han Solo. Look at the time differential, it's under half a second between shots in the current form which means Han was NOT reacting to being shot at. He made the decision to shoot without knowing he was being shot at. Same character, not self defense. The only difference is now Greedo is halfway competent at his job. I like a character with competent villains.
When I was younger, I was kind of confused about the whole Who shot first debate, and I wondered why it was such a big deal. Thinking about it now, I do think it's a little ridiculous how Greedo would miss Han at point blank effin' range. XD
well if you watch the special edition closely, they edit it so he dodges, but its really lazy editing, so it just looks like he moves his head to the side and then fires. also, han is a smuggler, his career revolves around gambling with his life. the fact that he would only attack someone if attacked first makes him more badass to me because it says that he knows he can survive anything and that enemies can throw all they want at him and he'll still come out on topAvatar Roku said:
Funny, what I heard was that the only reason he changed it was for the rating. Since there was no PG-13 back then, and in 1995 there was, having Greedo shoot first was enough to bring it back down from a PG-13 to a PG. Maybe he got the idea to fix it like that because he originally intended to have it like that, I don't know. I just watch the movies and have fun. I've learned taking Star Wars too seriously can lead down a bad, bad path.
The only thing I'm disappointed with about George is that too many people complained and now Red Tails will be his last big motion picture movie thingy. I was fine with his other movies, it was his butchering of the Star Wars universe I didn't care for but now we'll never see another George Lucas movie on the big screen.

Especially from a director who is so hung up on past glories, he can't actually make a new movie to save his life, instead relying on releases and other such crap. "Zomg Star Wars, completely totally and I'm not lying to you best edition ever!!'
