Had this very problem today, actually. Flushed it out with this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSq8ZBdSxNU]. (Not a RickRoll, I promise. Not even a SackRoll.)

I just play the song over and over then suddenly switch to another song or two. And game, and watch TV at the same time. It just drowns everything out completely.

Sing the Lyrics....trust me it works...keep going for as long as you have it in your head, it will eventually come out.

Sweet galloping honey-baked pants batman, it actually worked! Now how do I get this new song out of my head? I should have listened to there was an old lady who swallowed a fly in nursery school.

*Edit* Now there was an old lady who swallowed a fly is stuck in my head as well as the linked song. Oh wonderful funderful joy.

Typically I find experimental brain surgery to be incredibly effective in getting that damned song out of your head.

I always have some song running through my head, so when one gets in there I let it run its course a few times, then kick it out by mashing a new one in.

Today it was G&R's version of Live and Let Die.

I listen to the stuck song a few times, then try something else that is catchy and less annoying. Or, if it's a genuinely good song, just let it run it's course.

Although, another great method is spreading the catchiness. Sharing is caring~

Honestly? Try listening to the song.

I find that I have a specific segment (however long) stuck in my head more often than not, so I've found that listening to the whole song through, then instantly switching to another song keeps things moving nicely.

Do you have a method which does not involve slicing my thinkey parts open?

Sing it to someone else. When it's stuck to THEIR head, you'll be immune to it.

Dunno, but if you find out, let me know eh?

Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening
But they fought with expert timing....

This almost, but not quite, left me wishing it was a Rickroll. It does remind me of GTA Vice City, though, which earns it about 5 cool points and a happy face sticker. I'd have given 10 CPs and a silver star for the Starbucks commercial twist on Eye of the Tiger!

You just made me very happy. I now crave opples and bononos.

I think the most extreme move I ever made to exorcise a song from my head was when someone got Chris Isaacs Let Me Down Easy stuck in my head. Not only did it not go away after weeks, but I started to like it and sing it, which put others at risk of catching the same disease. The fact that I liked it was a problem since I feel nothing but bile for Chris Isaacs. Bile, I say, bile! I went as far as downloading the song pirate style (gar matey) and overplaying it until I got sick of it. Now, I can again say that I do not like a single song by that man. Well, maybe I do still listen to it once in awhile...

don't ask me how i thought of this but i found that imagining the singer being killed, instantly makes the song stop repeating...or maybe thats just because i imagine people being killed in my head all the time see if it works with you
