Total Recall was a great movie, don't get me wrong, but what possible reason would they want to make it now...

Yes, sadly, the new game will apparently be based on the upcoming remake [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1386703/] starring Colin Farrell and not the great Arnie film. Don't feel bad if that squashes any interest you might have had in this game; the new movie doesn't even have a Richter and how can you make a Total Recall film without "See you at the pahty, Richter?" It just doesn't work.

Your KIDDING ME.

They want to sink several tens of millions of dollars into a MMO to promote a remake of an 80's movie? Movie games already are hard enough to make in the limited time and budget, but your also now your trying to make a game that THRIVES on large amount of content to promote the movie that has a high chance of it self being a flop?

That has to be the worst possible idea I have heard all week.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure they said the new movies does not even take place on Mars.

Call me crazy but I just can't see Colin Farrell driving a huge mining drill through the guts of some asshole mutant taxi driver.

You know, a "real" Total Recall MMO could be good. Two sides battling it out in an action-packed, quest-heavy war across a wide variety of environments - not exactly groundbreaking but a solid base for a conventional, fun F2P MMO. But I just don't see it working with this remake. Fans of Total Recall (such as they are) want the real deal, and people who don't care... well, they just aren't going to care.

Well I was not going to play it unless it was bassed on total recall:2070, but that was never going to happen. (Fun fact about that show: in the last episode, Martin Sheen plays a suspiciously familar character. He represents an organization that has been a background antagonist for most of the show, Meets the protagonist in virtual reality, and makes the very reasonable case that they are the good guys. Seriously, Martin Sheen can make any evil plot sound like the most sensible thing ever. He is the reason my Shepard grew to respect, if not always agree with Cerberus. I am mightily pissed that bioware looks set to railroad me into fighting against them in the next game. Hmph! (Wow, that got off topic fast. )

If the MMO doesn't come with at least one muscled Austrian NPC who lets out hilarious onomatopeia if you hit him, I'm not buying it. I refuse to play a game based on Total Recall that does not have a certain percentage of Ahnuld remaining in it. No Arnold grunts or screams? Not buying.

No Michael Ironside = no me.

I wonder if the three boobs will be CGI this time, rather than paper mache and latex.
3(double)D perhaps?

Any Total Recall game is worth a look in my book.
Have you played the NES game? In my book, it's a piece of crap.
So is the movie, thats kinda the point.
But to be sereious, I said worth a look because I realise the NES game exists.
