Next week I'm going to get a PS3 for my birthday since I really need a good console to play serious games that I'm craving to play.
Any games worth recomending to get? I'm planning to get a Blockbuster membership so I can rent any game and return it anytime so I can get several games a month and play each one for a reasonable amount of time.
And please keep in mind that I just don't want to hear the burned out multiplatform hits like CoD4 or Bioshock or Fallout 3. Some PS3 exclusives would be great to hear instead.
I'm planning to go rent Prototype as my first PS3 game to play, followed by Infamous and then I'll see what games I get after that.
Righty first off, my best advice is that you mainly stay to PS3 exclusive games.
Here's a list of the few exclusives i bought that made 2 of my friends ditch their 360's ( no joke) to buy a PS3.
Resistance 2 - solely for the 30v30 multiplayer. Its very fun and extremely easy and fast to get into. A good game to relax and play with your friends.
Wipeout HD (DLC) - Very good racer, though not to everyone's liking.....at first. After a short time and once you get used to the unusual controls, its a very good game which can be played casually or hardcore .
Killzone 2 - A good, some what realistic FPS that has state of the art graphics and a unique gameplay ( as unique as an fps can be from other fps's). Though the multiplayer can be very irritating and reliant on teammates limiting it somewhat. A definite 'rent before you buy'.
MotorStorm: Pacific rift -A very fun racer, though not arcade style racer. It may seem to be of an arcade style at first, but to be able to play the game on the harder difficulties, you can see how the developers previous games ( WRC series) have influenced the game mechanics.
Metal Gear Solid 4 - Excellent gameplay, great story, and a must for anyone who enjoyed the other games of the MGS series. HOWEVER, expect to play very little on your first play through as about 2/3 of the game is cut scene's explaining the extremely complex story line.
Note about Infamous.
After playing the demo i was looking forward to playing it, and granted, the first few hours were fun....but hell, that game is linear. Its biggest short fall is how you do not need to change how you play the game from your first hour, to your 5th or 10th hour.
