We're not allowed to use that one because it confirms the existance of the god awful Legend of Zelda TV series, which as we all know, does not exist.
Like the American-Megaman one? :3
They exist to be mocked!
Not that. I have agressively denied that the show ever existed because it was so bad. I also deny the existance of those CD-i games that some people seem to think exist.

Should fight words with words. For example you could have called her Callow (?adjective1. immature or inexperienced) and said you were going to defenestrate (verb. throw through or out of the window) her.

She sounds like the type of woman who, out of need to feel superiority over others, looks for an excuse to be a ***** & makes it look like it's your fault & that the more you try to defend yourself, the more wrong you are.

The fact that you can't solo on 100% of the quests is yet another reason I don't play WoW. I also don't like the character designs & there are just too many damn players. Do they even give you the option to prevent players from speaking to you? Can you hide the chat box?

Wouldn't the British be on a EU server?
And she or he was silly for calling you those things. We Albertan's have been called rednecks, and my beloved city Calgary has been called "the Texas of Canada;" but it's all very baseless. These people remind me of Greenpeace. They make raging insinuations without any empirical evidence. I can sympathise with you're position because no matter how non-bigoted we are, we're always bigots who have horse shit fights in downtown. And we don't sip enough latte's.
I wouldn't worry about it.

I know plenty of American phrases.

I'm not saying you should have automatically know it. And the other person sounds like a *****. But knowing some other countries random phrases is good sometimes. Plus isn't whinging self explanatory?
Yeah, whining/whinging is self explanatory. But, ive never been called a "Whinge". It wasnt "Dont Whinge about it" just "DOnt be a Whinge" which confused me. And I try to know phrases from other places but I dont like being called ignorant for not knowing one or two.

Still... I dunno. I thought it would still be self explanatory from that. Especially if you know what whinging means.

Not poking fun though. But it can baffle sometimes when people don't get a word that you'd consider common place.

Just how it is though. You're always gonna get twats on the net no matter what. Best just ignoring them.
I had an idea of what it meant, but, I just came out and said I didnt know what the word meant to her. I didnt want to lie, at that moment in time I had no idea.

Also note, when reading it I was saying it kind of like "Win juh" so.. I really had no idea. Im kind of used to people spelling it Whine. So the G threw me off abit, but, enough excuses from me.

The random dungeon finder is probably one of the worst things to ever happen to WoW. Yes, it's amazingly convenient, and it made sure alot of casuals got to welfare-gear themselves, but it's just a breeding ground for assholic behavior. Chances are, you're never going to see the people you're running with again, and most people take that as an excuse to be right gits.

I concur.

Should you find yourself in a dungeon with her again, bombard her with American slang terms.

To completely cut off all contact? I don't think so. You can put people on Ignore, which means the toon they're currently on cannot speak to you and you won't get paired with them in the dungeon finder. And you can leave all of the default chat channels.

"I do vouchsafe that a bigoted cretin such as yourself would be cognizant of the cimmerianism of American peoples with regards to the idioms utilized by the citizenry of the United Kingdoms."

Just a response to her I'd have liked to give (though I do admit I looked up cimmerianism in a thesaurus).

You cant hide the chat box, well, you can switch to a custom made tab for chatting. Like set it up so you can only see Guild, Whispers, etc. And you cant ignore the person unless you're on their server.

Eh, don't let it get to you. She was probably just trying to troll you, like all British folk. (I'm kidding, don't hurt me! D: )

If you were about to congratulate the guy, to hell with her. I applaud your respect for others, and honestly I'd have tried to ignore her entirely - not to say I'd have much respect. My temper gets the best of me oftentimes, I'm afraid.

Conglaturations on not proving her right by completely losing it, as I would have! :D

Edit: Huh, after re-reading that...it was really confusing. I should probably go to bed now.

What role were you in the dungeon? If you were tanking, that'd explain it. People in PUGs tend to jump all over the tank for very little reason.

Hell, I'm British and I barely remember many of our own slang, nor do I know any American terms, ergo I don't expect Americans to know many, if any of our slang terms.

Personally, if it were me in that situation, I'd have told her to go fuck a landmine, she sounds like someone who's being an uppity ***** for the sake of being an uppity *****, and you just caught her on the wrong day...Or she's just an uppity ***** in general.

But it's the internet, probably just trying to get a reaction out of you, in which case, counter troll with "lol u mad?"

Didnt seem confusing to me. And thanks, I try to keep my temper, but uh, I would have lost it if I were stuck there any longer. It's good I had the ability to leave group.

Whenever I see a rant like this, I'm always a little hesitant to believe everything the ranter says, it is personal issue, and they likely tell only their side of things. For example:

Niracas said:
Well lets see where I begin. Id like to start this post off by saying I harbor no hate toward any other country or people from said country. That is all.

To begin my fantastic adventure let me tell you what I was doing, I was playing WoW, just leveling a character. Nothing special at all. I ran a dungeon with a few people and about half way through I needed to use the restroom. So I did and promptly came back. Shortly after an item drops, I roll, lost it. I did the /sigh emote and said "Aw man". As I was typing out "Just messing, grats" to the person who won. The healer(Who was apparently British) pops in and calls me out on being "AFK for half the instance". Welp I proceeded to try and plead my case about going to the restroom and only being gone for about.. 5 minutes.
5 Minutes is a pretty long time to be honest. I don't know many people that take that long. Also, are you sure that is all you may have said?

This turned into her telling me I was doing something called "Whinge", when I said I didnt know what it meant I was called an 8 year old and stupid.

She linked a definition(The only way she could have linked it instantly was if she had a macro for it.. for others that didnt know it). I noticed it was a British word and I replied with "Excuse me for not being British". She then said "I was playing the ignorant American Card, and that 'Im American and dont need to know words'"
Whinge may be British in nature (Y'know, like all of the American dialect of English is) but it is fairly common in usage in the States. Were you using voice chat? Are you a male who hasn't gone through puberty yet? High pitched voices that is complaining about something could very well sound annoying to others.

How am I, an American, suppose to know a British term? I dont watch BBC, ive never gone to Europe. I have no hate for other countries, yet the moment I dont know something im "An Ignorant American"? When did I say I didnt want to learn things? This is truly why im not liking ANYONE anymore. American or otherwise.

I know that involved WoW alot, but I really didnt feel like it was a gaming topic.. so.. yeah. What does everyone think. I really dont try to come off as the typical "Ignorant American". I do try at least.
Honestly, here's what it sounds like to me: Someone made a few mild jabs at you, and you responded too strongly. You took a little longer in the bathroom than maybe is considered reasonable, and instead of just apologizing and moving on, you got defensive. Same thing happened again when they used a word you didn't know.

My advice? Calm the heck down. Don't take things personally, and don't be afraid to admit to a mistake. Antagonizing others to try and look 'grown up' isn't really going to work. Oh, and you want to get used to using Dictionary.com ;P.

Er.. well I guess. I wasnt using voice chat either. And I know noone else was there, and you dont HAVE to believe me but.. I didnt really get that defensive. I just said I was kidding and she started well I dont have to go over it again.

I really dont recall saying anything to her to actually provoke her into calling me an 8 year old or an idiot. Or ignorant. All I did say was I didnt know the word. Oh and that I wasnt British and all that. But I didnt swear, didnt use caps, didnt insult her. Just ugh.. im sorry.

What the hell is a whinge? British slang is so weird and foreign. You'd think they were from a different country or something.

Didn't read far enough to see if it's been explained (not that it really matters) but whinging is a British term for whining or complaining. As to the true topic, I'm with this guy...

Please pardon the sudden burst of "Language" in this post. I'm not usually this vulgar.
Best thing you can do is ignore it and understand that nobodies opinion or attitude is gonna be changed no matter what you do or say. As soon as a person like that hears that you are American they are gonna try and flame you, ignorance at it's best...
