Nightstalkers aren't THAT bad.

Cazadores are...OH GOD, they make me sad and want to OD with med-x.

Deathclaws aren't that bad though, I mean, they only hang around one area.

Don't listen to the energy weapons haters, it is more useful than they think. You don't need to find more ammo as long as you have a good science (you should anyways) you can recharge the spent shells into more ammo.

I first encountered them at level 10. They attacked in a pack. I only survived using all of my 10mm rounds and pretty much demolishing my 10mm SMG and wasting most of my stimpaks.

And Deathclaws... I think you can still agree that running is the best idea if you meet them at a low level.
Oh damn, when I met Nightstalkers I was totting the heavy incenrator and sniping, so everything went a lot smoother with me.

I remember in FO3 with my level 17 character when I first met a Deathclaw, I was so confused something could take me down in about 3 seconds when I could run around and barely have to use stimpacs.

It'll be free. I'm guessing from your post that you're playing on XBox. Not sure how that works as I play on PC and get the patches automatically through Steam.
I know how it works. Patches and the like are either automatic or available as DLC.

If you plan on being a rich character, pour an extra point or two into Endurance at the beginning. For every point of Endurance, you can buy a cyborg enhancement at the New Vegas Med Clinic that will increase your abilities.
It costs 4000 caps for each of the implants that gives +1 to a SPECIAL stat of your choice. (eg. 4000 caps for +1 Intelligence.)
It costs 8000 caps for a Damage Threshold boost (+4)
It costs 12000 caps for health regeneration (1hp/10sec.)

Those are worthy investments, but you need one point of Endurance for each implant you want to add.

Also, Endurance adds health, which you'll need a lot of.

So yeah... invest in Endurance early on.
Important to note that only your initial Endurance and any increases via Intense Training count toward your max number of implants. Anything else is ignored, including drugs and the endurance implant.

Learn Caravan and build a good deck ASAP. It's a licence to print money.

Just remember to do all your selling before you play a merchant... then clean them out at caravan... then do all yourt buying... then clean them out again.

on a serious note, go to the gun runners and buy the stuff you need to make the ammo and you'll be swimming in it in no time.

Stick to the roads early on. There's a few bandits here and there (along with a few mines), but it's not like Fallout 3 where avoiding roads was the smarter move.

And take the time to learn how to play Caravan. It's easily won and will solve your cap problems before you get to The Strip.

New Vegas is a friendlier place than the Capital Wasteland, so the early going isn't going to be a huge challenge. It's mostly about figuring out the players and how you fit in. Personally, I enjoyed that a lot more.

Good to know. I love FO3 but hurdling through the first few levels, trying first thing to get all the 'towns' explored was a damn chore.

Well, I've got some bad news for you: the Stealth Suit no longer has a stealth field, just +5 Sneak and I think it may increase the strength/duration of Stealth Boys. And Stealth Boys are ridiculously rare, unless you side with a certain faction.
