getting shafted by life.

hey guys, Im just wondering if any of you are in the same boat im in. It seems like life likes to play this game with me where I get shafted, get the short straw, etc etc. with any opportunity It gets. Whenever im faced with multiple possibilities or choices no matter how positive I act or how I act in general life gives me the worst possibility out of the bunch. its been like this my whole life. you know how some kids seem to be graced with good luck, a nice home, and processions out the ass? my life seems to almost be a 180 of that.


Iv turned pessimistic in life more often now, whats the point in trying when it seems like im running a pre-destined course?

Yeah, karma doesn't exist. Start with that. Once you accept that, you can do whatever you think will make you happiest.

My advice would be to find happiness in very little things.

I don't really want to be rude, but half the time, things that seem unfair or unlucky are just a result of you not putting yourself forward or not being confident enough. Your own attitude is one of the most important things in succeeding at your goals

But yeah, OP consider this, find happiness in the little things in life, we all have our crappy segments but stay cool and you can get a good one.

Life is like Portal.
It has it's weird twists and curves and all it's strange rules.
But, you eventually find the way out.
Because keeping that in mind, then there will always be something that fucks up your day, what do I do? I laugh it off.

Sounds to me, it's more like you are just expecting things to fall into your lap with minimal effort. All of those things you listed above could be obtained with effort and hard work, everything in life is. Unless of course you live in one of those places in Africa where people live in shacks and talk about who has the most AIDs.

Maybe you just need to get busy.

Well, you're not dead: that's a start.

Really, though, look at what's happening in your life. All the real possibilities. Now, try and be optimistic about them, and not be concerned with what other people have.
I find this helps for anyone in any situation.

And really, having stuff doesn't make things that much better.

Sounds to me, it's more like you are just expecting things to fall into your lap with minimal effort. We all have those times in life where you sit back and ask "What the hell did I do?" I've had one of those semesters, been hosed by a few people, broke up with my girlfriend, but don't turn bitter or pessimistic. Start with finding stuff you like to do, then go from there. Things aren't ever as bad as they seem

I'm not saying you should act completely excited about everything. Just enjoy little things for yourself. For example, sometimes I make myself a cup of tea, stand at my window while slowly drinking it and watching all the cars and pedestrians go by and I can be perfectly happy.

Once you accept that, concentrate on hacking all the fun and happiness you can out of life. Drink deep. There is really nothing else to do.

I let a holiday with my friends because my best mate was hitting on a girl who changed at the drop of a hat from me to him, and now he's dating her :S

Sucks yet, and I was very upset and angry at the time that he broke the bro code and I was more upset that she played me for a laugh.

They got back last night and we all sat down and had a good chat and now we're all friends again.

You are just in a small rut right now. Things will get better.

My advice it to go and discover a new band or a new genre, that seems to cheer me up heaps. I discovered Daft Punk for the first time in my life on the night I came home, and man are they good. I'm heavy metal through and through, but Daft Punk really get me going.

Or, discover a new type of food you've never encountered. That weird dish on the menu at that little Indian restaurant down the road, go try it! Strange delicacy being sold at a Lebanese shop? Go eat it! Go and get yourself a bag of lebo bread and a tub of what's called Shancleshe (spelling is wrong but it's said like John Clease). It's herby and cheesy and oily and faaaaaaarout is it good

In your current mindset, you're going to continue to find that things stay the same; you'll get all the bad breaks, your life will be a total downer, etc. It's because that's what you're looking for in your life. You're likely quick to point out how things got screwed for you; start thinking about the things that have gone well for you. If nothing else, think about it like this. You're literate enough to write that post and brave and humble enough to ask others for help. Those are good qualities that many people don't have. You could be part of a third world illiterate country and not be able to express yourself through writing. It could be a hell of a lot worse. The fact that you have access to internet implies that you live in a first world-y country. That's a blessing. Look at the bright side and not the down side.

Well you gave no example for us to know how bad it really is so i dont know how apporperate this story is though.

I'll say it anyway. My best friend hes the same as you. He grew up in an abusive as F*** household his dad was a cold hearted ass his mom was almost worse. One time his dad threw him into the wall so bad there was a dent in it.

Now fast forward. Hes living a city away from em now since they moved. he refused to come. He worked like 3 jobs got his own place and dropped outta school. He then saved up enough so he could afford going to school and still working a job me and him then finished highschool and hes now enrolled into secondary education. He also has an amazing cellphone and! highspeed internet just so he can play Call of duty online. He even has a hot girlfriend to boot.

He did every single one of this things on his own accord and in the worse possible situation and upbringing. Its all possible.
