You folks do realise that this isn't the first GITS FPS game, right? I'm not exactly sure why people are so doom and gloom.

That said, I dislike MP-only FPS games so this is automatically going to be terrible because the only good FPS games are singleplayer FPS games. Or something.

As a GitS fan, I would prefer something along the lines of Deus Ex, but they probably took cues from the original GitS manga and movie first, so it would devolve into who "borrows" from who. Nice to hear Mat McGlynn as the Major again; not so much Imagine Dragons. For music, I was expecting something a little more, I dunno, "techie". Like from the anime itself, or the Miracle of Sound video "The New Black Gold."

EDIT: DAMMIT, I meant to say "Mary McGlynn". Sorry folks, my bad.

Everyone loves Transformers 4. Everyone loves the techno-thriller ambiance that only Michael Bay can deliver. Transformers 4 was full of Imagine Dragons. So it's only natural that a GITS video would have Imagine Dragons music. I'm only being half sarcastic here. I think a lot of people underestimate just how influential Michael Bay's work is on videogame developers around the world.

You have to go further back to find the first game:

It was basically a tank combat game, where you pilot a red tachikoma. I barely remember it, but I don't think it aged well (it was really early in ps1 generation).

Japans track record for Anime to Games is as bad if not worse then the wests tie in license games and they don't have an equivalent to Goldeneye or Beast of Butcher Bay. I don't think a single game every translated well.

You'd think a narrative driven sci-fi with guns and cyborgs would make good game material, but it seems like people are afraid to engage the series strongest points and focus purely on its aesthetic virtues. Fuck it, hand it off the eidos montreal and let them give GitS the Deus Ex treatment (preferably without "augmenting" preorders). It's obvious they are fans of stuff like GitS.

Anyway, judging by the content of the trailer, it looks decent for a multiplayer FPS. But that market is kind of saturated at the moment, so they need to do more then push a popular license to stand out.

I'm aware of the first game, but it's a PS1 tank game so it doesn't really count in this particular case. And if anything, it's even less true to the "spirit" of GITS, whatever that is.

My point is that GITS already has a fairly decent FPS title, even if it does suffer from the fact Japanese developers are seemingly incapable of creating FPS games with cohesive shooting mechanics, AI, and animation. TBH, it's not unlike seeing people upset over Syndicate getting an FPS spinoff or Resident Evil getting another MP spinoff that doesn't even use the Resident Evil name. Back in my day, when Turok got a competitive MP spinoff, people weren't filled with rage. They just didn't play it. When Quake abandoned its roots with Quake III, people who wanted a singleplayer Quake experience just didn't play it.

First off, was not expecting the Motoko Kusanagi narration... or the Imagine Dragon Radioactive theme... :p
Secondly, just online? Well, there goes my full interest... :p
And Thirdly, my full interest was purely on the fact that it was a GitS game... and the last time I played one of those was on the PS2... :p

Other than that, if this was on the PS4 and had local multiplayer, then I may buy it used at fucking GameStop... :p

Eeeeeegghhhh. At first I thought it was bearable looking. Then it switched to first person and they started playing radioactive. I actually threw up in my mouth a little. And it's online? I've never seen my interest drop so fast.
Thanks you! when I think Japanese sci-fi anime I think Radioactive. I wasn't expecting J-pop but holy fuck that does not fit gits at all
If they were going to do Radioactive, they should have used the nightcore dubstep version:
I feel it! *nightcore bass drop*
