Mmmmmm...Zelda dubstep.

I was about to yell ZELDUBSTEP!!!!!!

Okay, I might have yelled it anyway!

But yeah, a lot of dubstep can be just wubby and discordant, but the good stuff can really hit some sweet tones and themes...

This is probably what some would call "brostep" (i like how it's designed to practically scream that the one using the term is an elitist), but this is the kind of dubstep i like. It's big, pumping and a hell of a lot more fun than it has right to be.

Some of these are kind of house/dubstep mashups, but why give a shit? If you like it you like it.

The only dubstep i've bothered to listen to at all since learning about it's existence is by Sudanim and I must say, I enjoy their stuff a good bit. I don't know crap about dubstep, but this is some good wub wub wub right here.

Hellfire. I was rocking out to this track, and then that Obama break in the middle ruined it. I know what was said is true, but it just killed the flow for me.

:(

Oh well. I guess I can just skip or mute that bit.

I agree with you, but I don't think there's a version without it... I'll have a look now :)

It's not looking promising. Give me a minute or so.

Again, not dubstep, but I think it's pretty awesome.

Let me know if this non-step music should stay outta yer thread.

Don't worry, I do indeed get the reference. That's how I heard about the dubstep I posted.

See, that's when you know they're just making shit up as they go along :p

Anyway, there are only 2 dubstep songs I like so far, but a few things in this thread have piqued my interest and I'll keep checking them out.

LOL Skrillex is probably the most associated artist with Dubstep.
Anyway, other dubstep...

You sound like you're new to electronic, period, so I'll show you some other stuff that's totally baller.

Okay that's it for now.

Not entirely sure if it's still technically 'dubstep', but I don't know my genres.
What I do know is, Knife Party fucking rock.
While Pendulum are taking a bit of a breather, the singer and bassist decided to do a side project. I'm not complaining, I can wait..

I originally scoffed at this genre but a few tracks seem pretty entertaining, I'll monitor this thread so I can sift through the shit to find the gold.
Like I said in the OP, very much of it just isn't that great.

A lot of the suggestions in this thread I just don't really like, but for me, the tracks that are good, are worth wading through the shit for.

Alright, being the super-cool trendsetting badboy that I am, I was spinning dubstep before it was even called that (just a variant of Grime) in breakcore sets back in the early/mid noughties. Bristol being the base of operations helps of course, so instead of linking whatever farty drum and bass style "dubstep" is popular with kids today I present a documentary made just before the genre crossed into the mainstream but was gaining underground popularity.

Pick any of the tunes from this period, including those in the video and this is what dubstep sounds like to me, rather than the new stuff I don't really relate to. If you're interested in this original sound I can further link you if required.

I'll listen to dubstep every once and a while, but this video has stuck with me.

The song is 'Boneless' by IBenji
