It all comes down to sharing someone's hobbies i guess. If i spot a normal girl wearing an AC tshirt next to the hot looking blonde i'd choose the former. Why?

Chances are higher that Mrs.Assassine will accept games are my main hobby, thats all.

Girls crying for attention by labelling themselves gamer-girls obviously have problems getting attention of guys in the RL.

Just wear AC Tshirts, its really easy.

AND I don't consider anyone to be a gamer unless they have played and beaten some NES games like megaman, castlevania, or contra.
Well ... I've never touched an NES. I've never seen one here in Bulgaria. My very first piece of gaming ever was a Playstation 1. But I have played Mario, Castlevania and Megaman via emulators and internet flash games. Does that count? :D

The worse thing is when men assume you are a 'gamer grrl' whenever you talk about games.

I had a guy yell as me because I said I like Fallout 3 and NV as much as the originals (which I played at the god damn time they were released). He made me recite the entire storyline/side quests of both games until he was satisfied I had actually played them.

That's the kind of shit we have to put up with.

I don't wanna defend the (potential) asshole but I'd like to think he'd do that if you were male too. I often end up having people prove their preposterous opinions through such methods, it's not discrimination, it is proper debating methodology. You need to actually hear exactly why someone thinks that odd way they do, with detail, if you are to understand their point of view.

Too often you have people saying things that don't make sense which has you asking yourself if they've even played or watched whatever they're talking about.

Wow, really? I would be satisfied if a girl even knew what Fallout was :D

I like to think all of the Fallout games have merits. I really don't think it's a preposterous opinion at all. If Bethesda had released a game with the same combat system as Fallout 1 and 2 it wouldn't have sold and the franchise would have gone tits up again. We would be back to games like Brotherhood of Steel

Not sure why people don't get that.

Well it's a two fold issue:
- first is the princess syndrome, that is actually seen everywhere and is deeply engrained into our society, the idea that women need to be adored and taken care of

- secondly lack of girls in the gaming community plus lack of girls in the average gamers life, this makes a gamer girl pretty much a pitcher of ice water in the middle of a desert

Solution? I don't think there is one, the only reason those girls still exist is because some guys need them, it's a self perpetuating circle of stupidity.

Wait, I didn't say that it's preposterous to say you like 3 and NV more than the older ones, I said that HE clearly thought it was thus his act was based on pure outcry/nerdrage/whatever rather than your possessing breasts.

Just because some people have odd opinions it doesn't make their questioning any less valid, if anything you should enjoy the chance to prove them wrong.

As for me personally, I like em all, FO2 is prolly my favorite but I did enjoy the modern ones as well, so uhh...cool cheese! :D

The media extends this idea of a woman being special as well. Check out this trope (le TV tropes warning!)

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MenAreGenericWomenAreSpecial

It's not surprising that society mirrors it really.

Video games are horrible culprits of this (a man being the default image on nearly every player character customisable game anyone) which is probably why women get put on pedestals by male gamers.

The fact that he seemed to be completely accepting of my male friend who was also there and didn't question him might go against your theory somewhat :p

(My favourite is between Fallout 2 and the NV dlc's)

I get accused of this constantly. Though it is mostly because I get really excited over certain games coming out because I really fucking want to play them(which I know guys who will get more excited than me and show it so...) My gamertags and everything pretty much say I'm female. Do I care? Not really. Oh and I get accused of this when someone calls me or messages me on steam or something and asks what I'm doing and I say "oh nothing much sitting on my bed playing this game or that game" which I think is a bit unfair but meh *shrugs* my mentality is "I'm a girl. I game. I may be better, worse, or the same skill level as you. Get over my gender and let's just play" Then again I also don't do a whole lot of online gaming either. The most I do lately is I'll be logged into Steam and online playing a game or the PSN and be playing a game. My friends can contact me but that's about as close as I get. Or my friends and I trying to kill each other in Little Big Planet and shit talking each other. Which is always fun times. The girls that actually think that them being a gamer have always irritated me. As such I pretty much keep to myself a lot and only talk to people/add them as a friend if they aren't like that for the females and for the males only if they can get the hell over my gender. I have a lot of guy friends who (I don't know how this is possible honestly) still don't realise I game. Which is always fun when they finally realise it.

It's cool, that's why I put the "potential" in parenthesis, cause it sounded like he's more likely to be an asshole than not since he'd do the whole inquisition thing on people he's not all that familiar with. I hold off my nerdrage if it's against people I don't really know that much and ones that I know would be bothered by it.

I don't mind busting someone's chops on this kind of thing if I can do it in a funny and pleasant manner but it's most likely that you're an asshole if you're not even this considerate and just argue with people.

I do, my sister does and my mum does. In fact, I signed up for WoW's annual pass to get D3 for free. What girls do you know? o.o

Well in some cases it can just be about her sharing her interests. If a guy posts on his facebook "LOL playing COD", no-one thinks anything of it. But if a girl does it then she must be an attention whore.

I'm not saying this is true in all cases, and certainly not for girls who take pictures with a console (never understood that).

I don't get how you could play WoW and not like Diablo. WoW's graphics are pretty awful (though I do play on low)

but like... my MUM plays it. I'unno, I seem to know more girls who enjoy it actually.

I suppose some people love the attention from 'teeny-boppers mother-fuckers' as I like to call the battalion of children, screaming in their microphones "A GRRL? HAWT!" as soon as that luscious tone enters the fray, however it's often non-substantial and will be grown out of as these gamer girls become veterans and a lot more sense-full, to either shut the microphone off, hit mute or not play at all on multi-player. No real man will give chase to her whims.

To me, speaking as a veteran boy gamer, I don't care who it is chatting or scoring, whether you're a guy, a girl, a transsexual or even a hermaphrodite;
So long as you can focus on capping those killing streaks or objectives, and don't be a tool all around, you're all right with me.
