She already plays WoW? If not I would probably be like "no... but how about xyz?" If she does, then bummer I guess.

I (probably) wouldn't start up an MMO, but I have started playing/bought some games in large part to a lady friend wanting to play it with me though (looking at you Little Big Planet). Can't say it won't happen again...
She already plays WoW. Her words: "I wanted to play it with my friend in Maryland, but he's never online when I am." So suggesting an alternate game isn't really an option because she's already pretty into it.

SimuLord it comes down to something pretty simple:

Why do something you don't want to?

If you come to an answer to that question that seems worthwhile then do it, if not then don't. I've done many things I did not want to do, i've sacrificed years of my life doing living places and doing work i've never had interest in because the reasons for it was worth doing something i didn't want to do.

I'll play WoW.
If you held a knife to my throat, that is. The only thing WoW does is promote celibacy. At only a cheap price of $14 a month!
I love how everyone's saying $14 a month... it's $44 here... >.<

I did that once.

She had me join her guild and everything. Never really brought us closer or anything, in fact, she basically just used me for mild-entertainment. So she could say she played with a friend at the very least. She started dating someone soon after.

I never really liked the game at all, even when I played it. It was okay to pass the time, but when she essentially stopped playing the game, so did I.

Sounds like a massive waste of money, time and effort. Screw WoW, let the kids depressive maniacs play that game.
I just had to, I'm sorry. Entschuldigung. Anteeksi. Désolé. :/
You mean manic depressive, as in bipolar disorder?

If so ... damn, I think you're onto something.

Good on you for sticking to your principles instead of letting your genitalia control your mind. :p
One nice thing about getting older. The mind's winning most of these arguments.

I tried to get mine into WoW when I was playing quite regularly. She tried but wasn't interested in the end.

Maybe that's a good thing, I've stopped playing WoW quite a while ago and it would be annoying if she would still be playing. :p

This actually happened to me 2 weeks ago. A friend of mine asked if i wanted to play wow with her as she was tired of playing solo. We both knew each other through lotro and i had played wow before.

I gave in and went out the next morning to buy cataclysm and ended up sliding into a lamp post. Was during the bad snow here in Ireland. I just baught a 2 month game time card and when thats gone then its gone.

Plus now she owes me! Gonna make her play APB for a month when it comes out again Muahahaha!
Altho i do drag her to the RIFT beta events after we both got vip keys. Maybe that counts as even?

I think... If you wore to earn brownie points with a prostitute you'd have to give her money and then tell her to do something good with them, and not do her.

Per definition:
"Unexpected credit bestowed for a deed or action resulting in special favor of the recipient in the brownie point giver's eyes."

Getting a girl is not an acceptable reason to stand by idly whilst Blizzard STEAL from you. Do NOT play WoW until Blizzard settle on either one-time software purchase or monthly fee.

OP: Quite honestly tell her to go choke on a dic... no she probably does that anyway, sit on a cactus!
I can't even remember howmany times I was tricked like this "uh come join my chat/messaging/blog/face/gaming... bullshit, we can hang out and bla bla bla", fuck that sh*t, it goes nowhere you are simply the dupe she now has by the balls.
Play the game if and only if you want to, girls should be a non factor, you haveto remember they want men not muppets, she surely would feel better if you do her bidding, but forget about a romantic relationship when you do.

As for WoW, played it for some time, it surely is the best MMO, but that is like saying it's the best STD (they are all bad for you).
It is directly designed to keep you there forever, and 95% of it is tedious bullshit that just wastes your time until the month is over and you shell out another $14, then buy some expansions,... and so it goes on.
Actually it be better to get a second job, it wastes less of your time, is about the same level of fun, but they give you money not take it.
